Hello and happiest of days to each of you and I hope your day is going super mega well! Today I wanted to give you my next Top Cards from the set Marvel's Spider-Man for each of you all up and down the block. As you can see, we have three of these previously, and then are great for all casual kitchen table games from Commander to the Five Color format to Peasant and Pauper to Highlander and Type Four but mostly multiplayer. Also, this isn't our look at the Commander Set new cards either, just as a heads up, since they were made for kitchen table play. We'll do them next week.
Honorable Mention #1. (#18. Overall) - The Spot's Portal
This instant speed three-mana mono-Black uncommon is first. You tuck a dork to the bottom of its library. Normally, that's in Blue like Time Ebb or colorshifted to White in Planar Chaos. But here it's been moved to Black on an instant speed. But you'll have to make up for that speed and value with losing a pair of life unless you control a Villain. I feel like that's perfectly alright for me.
Honorable Mention #2. (#17. Overall) - Two Counters Plus
Next up are this duo of counters that add something too. The five-cost will either draw you three or counter and draw you one. Normally that's at four mana as a Concentrate or a Dismiss - but here it's instant speed and you can choose - so it's another mana which is great value no matter what you can do something. Then the Cancel three-cost also lets you tap one or two critters while countering too - great tempo there but not as great value and option as the first one, but no mana tax there either.
Honorable Mention #3. (#16. Overall) - Araņa, Heart of the Spider
Our Final Honorable Mention in our Final Article is this card-flow legendary three-drop Boros Hero with a great 3/3 size too. When you get your swing on with anything you can toss a counter on an attacker, not it necessarily. Then when your modified stuff connects you can exile and cast it this turn only though. Great.
#15. Carnage, Crimson Chaos
Alright "C" fans, we've got you covered with all three words starting with it. This Rakdos on-curve-ish 4/3 trampler has mayhem too. Then it arrives with a reanimated thang of ours with a cheap cost and it must attack each turn and then when it connects it dies. Sure, that's not much here right, but then it's free on a dork you didn't pay for, like Sun Titan.
#14. Angry Rabble
This common trampling Bear is great with a cast trigger for mid-cost casts and bigger stuff to ping each foe. Then you can grow it with a pair of counters each turn for six mana you spend here at sorcery speed so this is a double win con in the red zone or with its triggers too!
#13. Spider-UK
This fun four-drop 3/4 card draw machine at a White uncommon size. It's also got webslinging too. It'll draw you and gain you two life too in your end step if you made two creatures. That's both tokens and non, and then count his cheaper cost or others too you might have played first. It's great in aggro, tokens, life gain, midrange, and more!
#12. Kraven the Hunter
This is our only Golgari card in our countdown ever. Like the Spider-UK one this can also give you card draw as well as improving your board position. This has a great 4/3 size with trample on a three-drop and then as your largest power thing of your foe's dies you can draw and grow this with a counter too. Love it!
#11. Spider-Man Noir
This five-drop menacing legendary 4/4 mono-back leader is next with a great attack alone ability for it or another by adding a counter to and then surveilling that counter number. Great card selection and graveyard filling too! Enjoy this flavorful and fun take much!
#10. Spider-Byte, Web Warden
Lots of people loved the Visions group of ETB stuff that killed like Nekrataal and Uktabi Orangutan; me too! But I also adored the Man-o'-War bouncer too. This is that! For three mana on a legendary Spider, you can bounce anything that's not a land! That's great tempo and you can add it into all of your brews with dorks. Fun tempo fun!
#9. Spinneret and Spiderling
This fun mono-red flavor-first one-drop rare tag team with a 1/2 body. When you swing with two or more Spiders, like them, you can toss a counter here! When they deal four damage to anything, not just players, you can exile the top card and cast it until your next turn. Nice card draw, on an aggro or Spider thing. It's also good for Equipment, Voltron, and more.
#8. Parker Luck
This interesting three-cost enchantment is next. In your end step, choose two folks, and note you don't have to choose yourself if your life is high. Each of them reveals their top card, eat the others cost in life, and then draw too. Not bad, and a bit of a win-con too. Not that bad with the 40 life Commander for you and 20 life with foes. Love this with scry and surveil or Top knowing what is there too.
#7. Molten Man, Inferno Incarnate
This fun little red uncommon three-drop arrives with a basic Mountain from our library, which feels pretty great and then has your Mountain count in size too, which also seems like a great thing to help out the folks. But when he leaves play, you'll have to sac a land, which is fine to bring back with Crucible effects or the Drownyard by itself. It feels very red-flavored ramping and centric to me with interesting paths to take. Fun, right? I hope so!
#6. Pictures of Spider-Man
This three-drop artifact in Green is next and it ETBs with you digging five and drawing two dorks. Then you can tap and sac this for a Treasure too to cast them with. I like that ETB with graveyard recursion like Academy Ruins or Goblin Welder or just with most creatures from midrange removal like Reclamation Sage to recursion with Eternal Witness and such too. From Soul Sisters to Aggro, this is just pretty good at digging and getting a Treasure too!
#5. Friendly Neighborhood
Hello happy fans of Auras, Tokens, Voltron and Going Wide folks because I have the card for you intersects into that nicely! It arrives with three Humans for that kindred brew with 1/1 size and two colors too. Then you can tap the land with a mana at sorcery speed to grow a dork by your creature total! That's an amazing win con and go wide combo. If your dork is killed? Just toss this on another! If the board is swept? This will stay and then keep it up. I think this just speaks to me from all of the angles. And hopefully? You too!
#4. Daily Bugle Building
This fun land is next! It taps for colorless or with a mana to any color as mana washing. Then you can tap it with one to make a legendary dork with menace, but just at sorcery speed though. I feel this is a great and fun way to help give your Commanders evasion just like Rogue's Passage and this would be next after that!
#3. Spectacular Tactics
I adore me a combat trick or removal spell in one. This White two-cost common instant grows our dork with a counter and then hexproof to counter targeted interaction too! That's not normally in White - this would typically be indestructible. Then the removal spell is a Reprisal too for the same cost. Nice for Twice!
#2. Damage Control Crew
When it arrives, you can either Regrowth something pricey or exile an artifact or enchantment too. Yay for that good stuff. Removal or recursion!
#1. Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer
Our final card on my final Top 15 of the set is this five-drop rough casting cost White 5/5 on-curve legendary leader. When he ETBs, his ability is a Karmic Guide bringing any dork back. Then when damage is dealt here, it's prevented and all damage to it stops and he grows in that damage with counters too, like a better Fungusaur.
There we go! I enjoyed this deeper dive so very much for you all. I hope you did too! Next week we'll look at my Top Commander Cards from this set too.
