Hello happy folks! Happiest of days today!!! Today I wanted to count down my top Sagas for kitchen table play like Commander, multiplayer, Highlander, 5 Color, and more! This enchantment card subtype arrives with chapters, moves down each one and then dies. Since they have a limited timer, I typically don't play them in my Commander brews, so let's go against type and then run them! Please note that Sagas on the back side won't be here. Just front side stuff. Next week we'll look at my Top 5 Summons from FF.
Honorable Mention
The Birth of Meletis - This fun two-cost uncommon white will arrive and then grab you a basic Plains to your hand for not missing your next land drop and then next turn make an 0/4 artifact Wall to make sure you keep yourself alive from early game stuff sending your foes elsewhere in multiplayer. It can block fear and intimidate stuff. Next turn gain 2 life.
Showdown of the Skalds - This four-cost Boros colored rare arrives and then exiles impulsively four cards and you can play them through next turn. Then the next few turns your casts make a dork you control, like, say, your Commander grow permanently with a +1/+1 counter.
History of Benalia - This on-curve dork maker makes a pair of 2/2 Knights with vigilance too over two turns for just three mana. Then on the last turn you can pump them +2/+1 for the turn. Nice and then they stick around to block after swinging.
Phyrexian Scriptures - This four-drop mono-black one can toss a +1/+1 counter on your dork or another, turn it into an artifact too! Do that to kill it with a Shatter or on your dork to save it from the mass removal next for all non-artifact dorks. Then on the next turn you exile all opposing graveyards so they cannot get their swept stuff back or end up using it as a second hand. Nasty!
#5. Elspeth Conquers Death
This five-drop exiles a pricey permanent - note not dorks or higher power but any nonland with a three or greater cost on arrival. Exile is nasty since it cannot be recurred or stopped with indestructible. Then your foe's nondorks are more expensive on our turn and then you can Resurrection your best dork or planeswalker and then it arrives with another counter. Great from start to finish!!!
#4. Kiora Bests the Sea God
This Type Four playable Saga seven-drop blue arrives with a better than curve 8/8 Kraken with hexproof to protect - first turn in Type Four with infinite mana but one spell per turn. Then the next turn you can tap all nonlands your foes control to get in a swing or two, and then they don't untap like Sleep. Then the 3rd chapter you can steal an opposing thang from land to dork. And they don't get it back. Love this much, you will too in loads of brews.
#3. Binding the Old Gods
You can Vindicate a nonland first for removal, and then ramp a tapped Forest and it can be non-basic too. Then on the final chapter your dorks get deathtouch so no one will block when they attack. This is my highest scoring traditional Saga. Love this two for one with a land and destruction too. Midrange loves it!!!
#2. The Kami War // O-Kagachi Made Manifest
This all colors six-drop will exile any nonland permanent on arrival, great combo of Elspeth and the previous one. Then you can you can hit your foes to get them all to discard or bounce your thing to take off a negative Aura on your Commander. Then swap and get the 6/6, flying and trample - doubly evasive and then when it swings? Your foe chooses to Regrowth a nonland card of yours and then this grows in that cost's power!!! Nasty! Just one card could be better...and it's obvious which one...
#1. Fable of the Mirror-Breaker
Nothing else could be here!! The three-cost dork it makes swings and ramps you a Treasure. Then you can discard and card draw early up to two - if you've got extra lands or things you cannot play to get good stuff and then flip to the 2/2 1 mana tapper to make a copy of a non-legendary dork you control with haste for the turn. From Mulldrifter to Flametongue Kavu to Soul Warden there are tons of great choices!!! Just not your Commander. It broke Standard!
There we go, I hope you enjoyed my Top Sagas for y'all for kitchen table formats! Next week is Summons from FF since they are dorks too, let's just do them.
