Welcome to my share of the Archazia's Island Review! Since the last time you have heard from me my Brain has been exposed to air and a bad part of it removed, so please be patient with me. I may ramble.
I will include this disclaimer. My normal mind is casual environment geared, so some of my picks are based upon potential tricks that may or may not be viable in a real competitive tournament. Sure, I will try my best to land a playmat or two, but I always find wins with "off brands" more satisfying. I hope you agree.
My more worthy compatriot, Stefen Delgado, gets the honor of covering the new dual color cards but I mighty splash some here. Because I love the whole idea so much.
I will be listing my picks from the least to most liked by myself. Feel Free to disagree.
Number Eleven
I have this one listed because of pure potential. Cost reduction should never be ignored. The flavor is also fun here considering he is a Cannon Expert playing Fire the Cannons! for free.
Number Ten
Strictly by the numbers pick. The 2 Ink for 2 Lore ratio is the perfect value in Emerald. There are many better options that don't require exertion. So probably fodder cards. Still a Good draft pick.
Number Nine
You don't need much experience in this game to understand the value of Evasive. Here, we get Evasive on our choice and time just for doing something we always do, by placing ink.
Number Eight
Another Solid 2 ink to 2 Lore. MIght be some fun tricks with Night Howler Rage? He really needs a bigger back side to make it worth being challenged.
Number Seven
If you like Cursed Merfolk - Ursula's Handiwork and Flynn Rider - Charming Rogue then here is a decent back up. Increased Redundancy equals hand consistency.
Number Six
Basic card filter which has been more of a Steel ability so maybe it'll find some weirdness in an Emerald/ Other color combo.
Number Five
Do you Remember a card called Avalanche? That plays out very well here. There is so much power in saying "no you can't' to your opponent.
Number Four
This is similar to Piglet - Pooh Pirate Captain, grabbing 3 Lore in a scenario Emerald is built for. It could have matched Ink cost to Piglet in my opinion.
Number Three
My first read of this card made me flinch. That is a huge drawback, but 4 Lore is a huge payoff. In a "lemon-lime" aggro deck, your turn four often finds you at 0 to 1 card in hand anyway so in that case the drawback is nothing.
Number Two
I had to reach outside of my list for this one. The benefits of a good Shift have been confirmed over time but to add drawing a card... even better. Unfortunately, we don't have many cards that can stack on top of Hiro. Hence some extra value for the new "Universal Shift." Rules reminder, if something returns Baymax to hand, it will also return Hiro. That could translate into some kind of card draw cycle.
Number One
This card will change board states all over. In Constructed, your benefit will outweigh your opponent's. I am a big fan of gearing toward Hades - Infernal Schemer and Maleficent - Monstrous Dragon since you get to empty the bag and basically deny their "free play." Of course, just grabbing a crazy game changer like Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock is available as well. Yes, I am also looking at you Rafiki - Ethereal Guide.
Hopefully, I've added to your horizons on our little Island. Until next time, remember that all the coolest Ink can be found at coolstuffinc.com.
