Puzzling Magic #22 – Turning the Phage

Reddit

This week, I’m going to try a perfect-luck puzzle with a bit of a twist: Rather than presenting you with a turn by which you have to complete the challenge, I’m going to leave it open as to how quickly it can be done.

Challenge

Using only cards from Onslaught block, attack with Phage the Untouchable as quickly as possible.

Assumptions

You have perfect luck; for example, even after you shuffle your library, it’s ordered how you want. You may not assume anything about your opponent’s hand or library, except that he won’t do anything relevant.

Attacking “quickly” refers to both the turn of the game and whether you’re playing or drawing first. Turn three on the draw is quicker than turn four on the play, but not as quick as turn three on the play.

Send your solutions to nex342+puzzle@gmail.com with the subject line “Puzzle – Turning the Phage” and I’ll include the best ones in next week’s article, along with the next puzzle!

Good luck!

Solution to Last Week’s Puzzle

Last week’s puzzle turned out to be a little easier than I expected; it turned out to be possible to win after exiling only two cards with Karn. Before we get there, though, credit goes to James Eveland for submitting the first four-card solution: two Rage Throwers, Myr Battlesphere, and Devouring Swarm. James S. was the first to submit the two-card solution: Warstorm Surge and Blightsteel Colossus.
