Welcome to the Weekly Sale Column. Each week, the latest sale offers plenty of opportunities to spice up an existing deck, or it might inspire you to build something completely new. Remember, the weekly sale ends Sunday night at 11:59 PM EST, so make sure to get your order in before then.
For this week's Nuts & Bolts sale, it's time to feed the machine and build around Krang, Master Mind.
What is Krang, Master Mind: Scrap Happens?
This is a Mono-Blue Artifact deck that floods the battlefield with cheap Artifacts, empties its hand, and uses Krang, Master Mind to refill on cards while turning that same pile of Artifacts into mana and some surprisingly large threats.
There are plenty of moving parts, but once the engine gets going, just about every Artifact helps power the next one.

Krang's Built Different
Krang, Master Mind is an eight-mana 1/4 with Affinity for Artifacts, so every Artifact you control helps bring that intimidating mana cost down. Get six Artifacts into play, and Krang suddenly costs just ![]()
.
Better yet, if you have fewer than four cards in hand when he enters, he draws you back up to four.
So, as you might've guessed, the game plan is simple: dump your hand, cast Krang for cheap, refill, and repeat as your Artifact count climbs and Krang starts deleting players with Commander Damage.
Empty Hand, Happy Krang
Riddlesmith keeps things moving by Looting whenever you cast an Artifact, while Urza, Powerstone Prodigy can turn discarded Artifacts into Powerstones. Together, they help turn the deck's constant stream of cheap Artifacts into both card selection and extra mana.
That makes the discard less of a cost and more of a valuable resource. You can pitch an Artifact that you don't currently need, generate a Powerstone with Urza, and keep churning through the deck as you cast more Artifacts.
Mono-Blue usually wants to keep its hand full. Krang would rather empty it first. Free discard outlets like Ghostly Pilferer and Mind Over Matter can trigger Urza on each turn around the table by pitching Artifact cards for even more Powerstones.
Of course, dumping your hand only works if there are ways to refill it. Luckily, Krang isn't the deck's only way to reload.
Thoughtcast can draw two cards for as little as
, while Thought Monitor can do the same for
while leaving behind a Flying Artifact body.
Key to the City pulls double duty, making Krang Unblockable for Commander Damage while also letting you pay two mana to draw whenever it untaps.
Monument to Endurance squeezes even more value out of discarded cards through extra draw, Treasure, or life loss.
For most Mono-Blue decks, an empty hand is a disaster. But for Krang, it just means everything is going according to plan.
No Scrap Left Behind
A board full of Artifacts is already great for Affinity but Improvise can turn all that scrap into mana too.
Inspiring Statuary is an Artifact that gives your nonartifact spells Improvise. Ironheart, Clever Champion is a Creature that does the same, and Archway of Innovation even gets a Land type in on the Improvise action.
Suddenly, everything from a spare Thopter to Mishra's Bauble can help pay for the next spell.
Speaking of spare Artifacts, Whir of Invention is easily one of the deck's best payoffs.
It already has Improvise and can Tutor for an Artifact with mana value
or less directly onto the battlefield, turning otherwise idle Artifacts into whichever piece the situation calls for.
Other key cards in this deck include:
- Commander's Plate gives Krang +3/+3 and Protection from every color except Blue.
- Panharmonicon doubles many of the deck's ETB Triggers for even more value.
- Uthros Research Craft can turn every Artifact spell into another card once it's Stationed, then eventually become a massive Flying threat that scales with your Artifact count.
Between Affinity making spells cheaper and Improvise turning Artifacts into mana, just about every piece on the board ends up pulling double duty.
Final Thoughts
Krang rewards exactly what this deck already wants to do: flood the board with Artifacts, burn through cards, and turn every spare piece into fuel for the next play. So, if Krang has you ready to start assembling some scrap of your own, check out the Nuts & Bolts sale before it ends.
