Product Details

Perdition's Mouth: Abyssal Rift is not your typical dungeon crawl. Unique and intuitive Euro-style mechanics combined with strong co-operation and a dark and deeply immersive theme put Perdition?s Mouth in its own category. It combines the tactical elements seen in blockbusters such as Gloomhaven, the struggle to survive from Posthuman, and the awesome dungeon crawling of Descent.

No dice? Rondels? No gamemaster? Hand management? Crucial cooperation? All in a dungeon crawl? Yes! Keep reading and see...

The game designers of Perdition's Mouth: Abyssal Rift (Timo Multamaki, Thomas Klausner and Kevin Wilson) set out to implement a new kind of dungeon crawl. One that embraces the European school of game design with clever mechanisms which emphasizes strategy and minimizing luck. Cooperation, planning and the enemy response deck eliminate the need for chucking dice, creating a tense combat environment with meaningful decisions! The rondels provide another tactical layer, including the enemy?s devious and challenging AI.

Kevin Wilson, famed designer of Arkham Horror and Descent: ?The way the rondel worked, the unique feel of each hero, and the gritty horror fantasy theme all appealed to me, as there was nothing else like it on the market. I think this is a real winner!

The game combines strong tactical play with a level of challenge in a co-op that even Arkham Horror fans will appreciate. Best of all, it all comes together in a simple but very satisfying way. In other words, it's a project I'm delighted to have been involved in!?

One more thing that makes Perdition?s Mouth appealing is the easy-to-learn rules. We?ve spent over four years working hard to make them straightforward and understandable so the game plays smoothly without being fiddly. Typically game testers and demo participants learn to play in 15 minutes. A usual game round takes less than 10 minutes, even with 6 players. But don?t let the ease of learning make you think there?s not much there. Deep, strategic cooperation will be required for your band of heroes to make it through to the Abyssal Rift and maybe even come back alive. All the players are active throughout each rounds as they can play cards outside their own turn to help the current player.
