Hello folks! I hope that you are having an equally awesome and safe day today!

Have you ever read the classic horror and sci-fi novel from the 1950s called I am Legend,written by Richard Matheson, or watched one of the three spin off films? I just finished it two weeks ago I and I loved it! This impactful book was the first time in modern literature that science fiction assessed the disease of vampirism rather than a gothic horror take on the genre from works such as Bram Stoker's

Dracula. For this reason it is referred to as the first modern vampire novel. Every subsequent vampire work of media from the Blade movie trilogy to the Ultraviolet BBC Mini series has lived in Richard Matheson's world.

I was inspired by the core idea as stated in the title of the book. I. Am. Legend.

I am Legend.

I want to build a deck that takes this core idea and makes it work mechanically? How?

With Sisay, Weatherlight Captain! I want to run a deck where every single card is legendary. They. Are. Legendary.

Sounds awesome!

Every card which is not a legendary card or a basic land is banned from this build! Cards that work with legendries and have a legendary matters mechanic are great!

But if they aren't legendary?

Go away!

Let's consider the tension of cards like Board the Weatherlight vs a powerhouse like Arvad the Cursed. Board the Weatherlight is a fun powerful legendary matters card with it's historic digging that it does quite nicely. But it is a legendary sorcery? Nope! Then stay home! On the other hand we have Arvad the Cursed which is a strong card for the machine as it'll pump up all of your things for a double Glorious Anthem on a stick. Is Arvad a legendary dork? Yep! Then come to work for Sisay, Weatherlight Captain!

Actually, now that I think about this, this idea is hard to make work with regards to mana. Here's my new deck rule!

90% of my deck must be basics or legendary cards. Of the remaining 10%, all must help with the mana. No to Lightning Greaves or Swiftfoot Boots or similarly vanilla cards. No Time of Need or Board the Weatherlight. It must all be on point.

What 10% makes it?

• Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, Peregrination - spells that grab two colors in one go. They are the key to a five-color brew.
• Solemn Simulacrum, Armillary Sphere - Mana from colorless sources is key. You can net green if you didn't draw it or other colors as needed. Artifacts love you.
• Chromatic Lantern, Commander's Sphere - Key mana rocks. Note I am skipping Sol Ring for colored mana. It's too essential not to. I converted it in my initial list to Armillary Sphere which nets two lands.
• Command Tower, Mana Confluence, City of Brass - Lands that make any color of mana needed. They are key in this brew.

And that's it!

Note that Sisay, Weatherlight Captain could really benefit from some pumping. The higher we make that power the more powerful her activated ability becomes. Day of Destiny? Spear of Heliod? Arvad the Cursed? We have a number of ways to pump the team, which will help out our leader! But guess what? We can dip into equipment as well! Don't sleep on Blackblade Reforged or Sword of the Animist or Embercleave. If it pumps the front it's here! Plus a lot of these are cheap for her ability as well, so your Sword of the Animist will arrive to the battlefield ready to punch for just one pump of Sisay's power to three.

What other cards made the cut?

Hello Captain Sisay! How could I not run the first edition of our lady friend? She taps for a free legendary creature and you know how many of these we are rocking!

As you saw from our conversation above, it plays well with this deck. A big giant helping of well! Did you cast a legendary card? Draw a card! Did you cast a non-legendary artifact like Solemn Simulacrum or Armillary Sphere or Chromatic Lantern? Draw a card! Draw lots and lots and lots. Draw all the cards!

I am also leaning into legendary sorceries as I want cards that do things in here. They will trigger Jhoira. They are cheaper to cast with Kethis, the Hidden Hand. They have powerful abilities such as mass removal, targeted removal, or mass recursion. Pretty much every legendary sorcery that could fit did fit. I love those two though!
