Ali Plays Historic Temur Flash

Reddit

Welcome back everyone! Today we play a Simic Flash deck with a little twist in splashing for Magma Opus main deck. It combines the flash strategy with Magma Opus and Torrential Gearhulk. It is definitely a breath of fresh air in Historic, even if it is a tempo deck.

Let's take a look at the deck!

Time Stamps:

00:03:11 - Match 1

00:29:36 - Match 2

00:33:17 - Match 3

00:44:22 - Match 4

00:51:23 - Match 5

01:03:34 - Match 6

This deck was made by Eric Oliveira, who placed 2nd with it in a tournament on MTG Melee.

The deck played well over all. I'm familiar with the power of Rewind and Nightpack Ambusher, but that familiarity was bolstered when I won games where I was able to Rewind into Nightpack. I was not a huge fan of Quandrix Command and can potentially see Decisive Denial here as a replacement. I also was not fully sold on the Torrential Gearhulk and Magma Opus combo. Against non-counterspell decks, the early Magma Opus will just end a game, but outside of that, it can be clunky. I would still run two Gearhulks and one Magma Opus but I would want the Gearhulk to be versatile in the spells it can flashback, not just be all in on Magma Opus. Sublime Epiphany with Gearhulk was always so much stronger and I would rather do that and play some Prismari Commands as ways to throw Sublime Epiphany into the graveyard. It was definitely a fun deck, though. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys flash strategies!

That's it for today, thanks for reading/watching!
