Pairs is a "New Classic Pub Game" by James Ernest and Paul Peterson, who also brought you Unexploded Cow. It's an extremely simple press-your-luck game featuring a deck of number cards (1 x 1, 2 x 2, 3 x 3, and so on, up to 10 x 10). There is only one loser, and the object is not to score points by collecting a pair.

This is the deck that started it all: Shane Tyree's Name of the Wind deck, based on the book by Patrick Rothfuss. The deck contains images of iconic character types from the Four Corners world, plus seven Calamities illustrated on the 7's. The deck also contains the "Calamities" game variant, a special rule for the 7's when playing basic Pairs, and possibly another entire game, called Sweep.
