Based on the popular online game, Vikings Gone Wild is a deck-building, resource management game in which 2-4 players battle it out for the favor of the gods. Each player starts with a deck of 10 cards (6 Beer, 2 Gold, and 2 Viking Warriors) which produce resources to build buildings, acquire new cards, attack other players, and defend against incoming attacks.
Resources (Gold or Beer) produced by playing cards can be used to build new buildings that can produce a steady stream of resources from turn to turn, or provide other benefits. However, players are limited in the number of buildings they can have until they upgrade their Town Hall.
Resources can also be spent to buy new cards from the basic defense and unit options or from the ever shifting Odin's Path. New cards are added to your deck and will provide much bigger bonuses than the basic cards you start with.
One of the major sources of points in the game is attacking other players. You can attack one other player during your turn by playing unit cards from your hand and declaring which of their buildings you are attacking (you also have the option to attack Undead in Odin's Path of the Draco at the center of the board). If your total strength of your declared units is more than defense value of the defending building, your attack succeeds. If it doesn't, the defending players succeeds. Whoever comes out on top in the end receives points!
As players reach certain victory point thresholds, they'll have their choice of Divine Favor cards to add to their deck. Each of the Divine Favors provides a large, unique boon to help the player on their way to victory!
Another way to gain points over the course of the game is to complete mission objectives. Each player can finish one mission on their turn if the mission's objective is met. They will then place it face down in the designated space on their player sheet and gain the listed victory point amount before drawing a new mission card.
Once a player has reached a certain number of points, the current round is played out and then Bonus Points are awarded. These Bonus Point awards are visible for the entire game and are something to work toward as they provide a substantial point boost. After bonus points are awarded, the player with the highest victory point total wins!
