Hellbreak is an all-new Trading Card Game from Spin Master and Universal Products. It combines fast-paced gameplay and creative deck construction as you and a friend each take on the role of a monster and battle to the death. Deploy Minions, Scheme with your Monster, and attack your enemy in their lair, all while defending yourself from an invading force.

How does it work?

Each game of Hellbreak begins with two players and two decks. Your two-sided Monster lurks on the battlefield, and you choose your Location from one of many, each with their own advantages and abilities. Taking turns, you can play a Minion to defend yourself or attack your opponent, Scheme with your Monster or another character to deal direct damage or gain resources, even use special Actions unique to each card.

Pick Your Poison

The initial decks include Dracula and Jaws. Coffin-up in Carfax Abbey as the lord of the undead, or menace the revelers at North Beach as the massive Great White. Ever wondered what will happen when a vampire fights a shark? Now's your chance to find out.

Potential Monsters

Universal Pictures has a number of classic and modern horror characters, all of which are potential Monsters in the game.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Universal's first horror movie was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, from 1913. You could play as the transforming Dr. Jekyll, losing control to the vile, murderous alter-ego Mr. Hyde. A mechanic allowing you to control the transformation - or lose control of it - could have serious ramifications to the game.

The Phantom of the Opera

The story of the Phantom of the Opera is famous because of the musical, but the story is rooted in some truth - and now you have the chance to control the fate of the Paris Opera House. Haunt the catacombs and sewers underneath Paris, moving swiftly and silently through the world and plotting the perfect revenge.

Frankenstein

Take on the role of Frankenstein's monster, the created creature from sewn-together body parts. Super strength is only one of the abilities we can expect. And don't forget Frankenstein's Bride, a terrifying character in her own right.

The Mummy

How do you deal with an immortal being? Make your friends find out by playing as the Mummy Imotep, the immortal being burned alive for sacrilege and resurrected by the Scroll of Thoth. Use mind control to take over, deploy minions from Ancient Egyptian mythology, and plot to control the world as you see fit.

Van Helsing

A monster-hunter with a dark past. Cool weapons. A great outfit. Go to town on monsters with a bevy of items, all designed to stop the villains in their tracks. Introducing Van Helsing to the mix would be a fun way to introduce some heroics - even if they're still dark.

The Modern Era

In addition to classic horror properties, Universal also controls The Purge, Halloween, M3gan, and Five Nights at Freddy's, among others. Each one of those is a potential monster (or multiple monsters!) to lead a deck. There will be no shortage of Monsters to control!
