Holiday Hoists Trophy

Reddit

If you expected a room full on Jund in San Diego, you would have been right. The shell of Dark Confidant, Liliana of the Veil, and Deathrite Shaman seems to define the format, while the specific decks are defined by their splashes for cards like Snapcaster Mage, Lightning Bolt, or Lingering Souls.

However, as the rounds played out and a Top 8 was determined, Jund seemed to drop off, and only two copies of the deck made the cut to Top 8. The top eight was star-studded, featuring Pro Tour Champions Brian Kibler and David Sharfman, as well as Eric Froehlich fresh of of his Top 4 at Pro Tour Gatecrash. In the end though, it was Nathan Holiday who took down the event, going through Brian Kibler in the quarterfinals, Eric Froehlich in the semifinals, and finally Sammy Tukeman in the finals.

Congratulations to Nathan Holiday, Champion of Grand Prix San Diego. Check out the Top 8 decklists below and head over to DailyMTG.com to check out the official coverage.
