What's up friends! In the past I've written about different Bandai card games, from One Piece to Union Arena, and now I'm exploring their new adventure in the cardboard world - the Gundam card game! I'm super excited for this new game! It takes a lot of different elements from Bandai's other card games and creates something really fun. I'm going to talk to you all today about the first release, the starter decks!
First off, the starter decks are being released on July 11th. This is two weeks before the first set, "Gundam-Newtype Rising". There are two different types of starter decks coming out: Assemble Starter sets and Starter Decks. What mainly differentiates these two types of starter decks is the Assemble Starter Sets give you three different Gunpla Miniatures that are said to be customizable! This could definitely be a selling point for certain Gundam fans. The Gundam fandom is known for building Gunpla of their favorite Gundams, so seeing this inclusion in the card game is very cool!

In both of these starter decks you will find: x1 Ready to play 50 card deck, x10 Resource cards, x8 Token cards, 1x Paper Damage Counter, 1x Rule/play sheet, and 1x bonus pack that contains 1 card. All Types of starter decks will include this, with the Assemble Starter sets also containing the three Gunpla miniatures for you to customize. Both will include everything you need to play and enjoy the Gundam Card Game. Of course, this just scratches the surface, because Bandai is releasing four different starter decks featuring your favorite Gundams from across multiple series!
On July 11th four different starter decks will be releasing: ST01 Heroic Beginnings, ST02 Wings of Advance, ST03 Zeon's Rush and lastly, ST04 SEED Strike. All four starter decks will come with the aforementioned contents; however, they will have different cards! Each deck contains different color combinations and plays differently! Releasing four starter decks at launch helps boost the card pool during this games infancy since we will only be one set deep when the game officially releases at the end of July. This is something that Bandai has done in the pass and is like how they launched the One Piece Card Game. However, If I have a piece of advice, it's definitely to pick up these starter decks when you can! In One Piece, the starter decks at launch went quick and were hard to find. Which brings me to my last thing: Bandai Games at launch.

Typically, Bandai games are met with quite a bit of anticipation. This usually means two things happen. One, a community around the game gets built very quickly, because everyone wants to play the new game. This would normally be a great thing with no downside - however that brings us to the 2nd situation. Product can be hard to find due to the demand. I cannot recommend enough to try to get product early and where you can if you're interested in the Gundam Card Game! If you don't know yet if you're interested, try downloading the Gundam Card Game tutorial app to your phone and giving it a try!
