Three Decks for Edge of Eternities Standard

Reddit

Hello everyone. Now that Edge of Eternities is here, it's time to begin looking at new decks featuring these cool, new cards. Let's get started.

Mono-Red Tannuk

We'll start things off with a terrific Mono-Red deck that looks to take advantage of warping cards. Let's check out the deck.

Tannuk, Steadfast Second

Tannuk, Steadfast Second is the card that makes this deck run smoothly. While Tannuk is on the battlefield, other creatures you control have haste. This makes combat math difficult for your opponent, as they don't know how many creatures they need to hold back to block with. Giving haste to your creatures is very important, as it will allow them to attack on the same turn that they've entered the battlefield.

Tannuk's other static ability gives a warp cost to all artifact and Red creature cards in your hand. For just three mana, you can warp in huge threats that are able to attack right away. Those creatures also trigger any abilities that happen when they enter the battlefield. For example, if you warp in Drakuseth, Maw of Flames, it will be able to attack, dealing 4 damage to one target and 3 damage to up to two other targets. That's a massive amount of damage for just three mana.

Mono-Green Counters

The next deck I have for you features one of my favorite new cards, Ouroboroid. Let's take a look at the deck.

Ouroboroid

While Ouroboroid is on the battlefield, you'll add a number of +1/+1 counters to each creature in play equal to the power of Ouroboroid. That means that over the course of a few turns, you'll be able to quickly amass a lot of +1/+1 counters across your entire team. But what if you want all that extra power sooner?

Warden of the Grove can help with just that. Warden of the Grove allows you to endure X, where X is equal to the number of counters on Warden of the Grove, whenever another nontoken creature you control enters the battlefield. The endure ability either adds +1/+1 counters to a creature or creates a Spirit creature token, so you'll obviously usually want to add the counters. If you happen to play Ouroboroid after playing Warden of the Grove, it will have an immediate boost to its power, potentially dramatically increasing the number of +1/+1 counters your team will get.

Azorius Tezzeret

The final deck I have for you today features Tezzeret, our newest planeswalker. Let's take a look at the deck to see what sort of shenanigans old Tezz can get up to.

Tezzeret, Cruel Captain

Tezzeret, Cruel Captain's static ability puts a loyalty counter on him whenever an artifact you control enters the battlefield. This makes it possible to utilize Tezzeret's 'ultimate' -7 loyalty ability each turn. Doing this will give you an emblem that adds 3 +1/+1 counters to an artifact you control. By gaining multiple emblems, you'll get to put batches of 3 +1/+1 counters all over your side of the battlefield.

Tezzeret seems like a match made in heaven for Simulacrum Synthesizer. This artifact will create a 0/0 Construct artifact creature token whenever another artifact you control with mana value 3 or more enters the battlefield. These construct tokens have an ability that gives them +1/+1 for each artifact you control. By enchanting Simulacrum Synthesizer with Moonlit Meditation, you're able to create additional copies of Simulacrum Synthesizer, which will enable you to create even more Construct tokens. This can very quickly snowball out of control and the game is yours.

Wrapping Up

While I was originally skeptical about its theme, Edge of Eternities looks to be a solid set. Each of the decks I've shown you this week feature some amazing new cards, and I can't wait to try each of these decks out.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
