Three Multicolor Standard Decks for FNM

Reddit

Hello everyone. Last week, I promised you I'd start looking at multicolored decks this week, so that's exactly what I'll do. I have a trio of neat decks this week that also bring a bit of power with them. You can use these decks against your friends for fun, or at your local Friday Night Magic event. Let's get started.

Boros Aggro

We'll start with my favorite color combination, Boros. It features a playset of one of the best enchantments from Wilds of Eldraine, Virtue of Loyalty. Let's look at the deck.

I can't say enough good things about Virtue of Loyalty. It's great in the early stages of the game, as you can cast its adventure side to create a 2/2 Knight creature token that has vigilance. Later on, when you have more mana at your disposal, you can cast it as an enchantment that will untap all of your creatures at the beginning of your end step, plus provide them with a +1/+1 counter. The versatility this card offers is phenomenal, and helps to make it a great card.

Speaking of versatility, Charming Scoundrel offers a lot of it when she enters the battlefield. She has three different options for you to choose from, and depending on how the game has progressed, all of them are very viable. Rummaging, or discarding a card to draw a card, can help you find something you need from within your deck. Creating a Treasure token helps to ramp up your mana production. Creating a Wicked Role token buffs a creature you control, plus can cause your opponent to lose life when this Role is discarded.

One other card I really like in this deck is Gleeful Demolition. Against certain decks, destroying your opponent's artifacts can be devastating. But, if your opponent doesn't have any artifacts in play, you can still make good use of this card. If you've previously cast Voldaren Epicure, you will have a Blood token on the battlefield. By targeting this Blood token with Demolition, you'll be able to create three 1/1 Phyrexian Goblin creature tokens. By following that up with Imodane's Recruiter, you'll be able to attack for quite a bit of unexpected damage.

Dimir Faeries

The next deck I have for you features a type of creature I've loved since I started playing Magic during the Lorwyn era, Faeries. Let's check it out.

By having Obyra on the battlefield, your opponent will surely lose multiple points of life. That's because Obyra causes your opponent to lose one point of life whenever another Faerie enters the battlefield under your control. Since nearly every other creature in this deck, except for one, is a Faerie, Obyra is almost guaranteed to cause 3-4 points of life loss as a minimum. Combine that with the natural evasion that Faeries have (flying), and your opponent might be in trouble.

This deck is all-in on the synergy of having Faeries in play. While you have a Faerie on the battlefield, Faerie Fencing is able to give a bigger debuff than if you didn't have a Faerie in play. That means you can send bigger threats to the graveyard with ease. While you have a Faerie on the battlefield, Spell Stutter forces your opponent to pay additional mana if they don't want their spell countered. Finally, while you have a Faerie on the battlefield, you suffer no penalty when you cast Ego Drain.

Of course, there is one non-Faerie creature in this deck, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. This makes complete sense since Sheoldred is the most overpowered creature in Black currently in Standard. While she is on the battlefield, you'll be able to gain many points of life simply by drawing additional cards. You can do this with the help of both Talion's Messenger, who allows you to draw a card when one or more of your Faeries attack, and Faerie Mastermind. By using Faerie Mastermind's activated ability, you'll actually get a double benefit, as your opponent will lose two points of life when they draw a card and Sheoldred is in play.

Naya Adventures

The final deck I have for you loves to cast spells from exile. Let's look at the deck.

Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival takes center stage in this deck. You'll be able to create a 1/1 Thopter creature token that has flying whenever you play a land from exile or cast a spell from exile. By combining this ability with Adventure spells, you'll be able to create numerous Thopters during the course of the game.

By casting Heartflame Slash, the Adventure side of Heartflame Duelist, you'll deal three damage to any target. You can then cast Heartflame Duelist from exile, putting a 3/1 Human Knight onto the battlefield that will allow your instant and sorcery spells to have lifelink. In addition to Heartflame Slash, there are multiple instant and sorcery spells that deal direct damage, including Play with Fire and Witchstalker Frenzy. That can result in you gaining quite a bit of life.

Pia Nalaar works great alongside the other creature in this deck that can go on an Adventure, Questing Druid. Seek the Beast has you exile the top two cards of your library, and allows you to play those cards until your next end step. Since this says you can 'play' those cards, if you exile any land cards, you can play one of them as your land drop for the turn. In a similar manner, Wrenn's Resolve also does the same thing as Seek the Beast, but you'll be able to play the exiled cards until the end of your next turn. While this gives you a little more time to play those cards, the ultimate result is the creation of more Thopters with Pia Nalaar's ability.

Wrapping Up

While I really enjoyed looking at mono-colored decks featuring cards from Wilds of Eldraine the past couple of weeks, the decks this week that are multicolored seem way more exciting to me. I'm looking forward to building each of these decks to try out myself, because each has things that are unique to itself. I'm very hopeful that we'll continue to see such innovation in Standard throughout the next couple of months.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
