More Sweet Three-Color Decks for Avatar Standard

Reddit

Hello everyone. It's almost time for me to start my deep dive into decks from our current Standard format that all feature a specific color of mana, but we're not quite there yet. There's still one more week before that happens. So, this week I'll be taking a look at some more 3-4 color decks that you can play for fun against your friends or at a tournament at your local game store. Let's get started.

Mostly Bant Infinite Allies

We'll start things off with a deck that wants to go infinite. Let's take a look at the deck.

Doc Aurlock, Grizzled Genius
Appa, Steadfast Guardian
Aang, Swift Savior // Aang and La, Ocean's Fury

Doc Aurlock, Grizzled Genius helps this deck run smoothly. While this Bear Druid is in play, any spells you cast from your graveyard or from exile cost 2 mana less to cast. This ability will allow you to airbend for free, which will be the basis of getting an infinite number of Ally creature tokens.

Appa, Steadfast Guardian is another piece of the puzzle you'll need in order to be able to gain an infinite number of Ally creature tokens. When Appa enters the battlefield, you can airbend any number of other target nonland permanents you control. Appa also creates a 1/1 Ally creature token whenever you cast a spell from exile.

Aang, Swift Savior is the final creature you need in play for things to go infinite. When Aang, Swift Savior enters the battlefield, you can airbend up to one other target creature or spell. By airbending Aang with Appa, you can then airbend Appa when Aang is recast for free, setting up a cycle where Appa airbends Aang and Aang airbends Appa over and over again. If you have at least one other nonland permanent in play, you'll be able to create as many 1/1 Ally creature tokens as you would like.

Temur Swiss Army Knife

The next deck I have for you is a very flexible deck, capable of handling most anything that your opponent will throw at you. Let's check it out.

Cactusfolk Sureshot
Outcaster Trailblazer
Fresh Start

Cactusfolk Sureshot provides a lot of firepower to this deck. While this Plant Mercenary is on the battlefield, at the beginning of your combat, other creatures you control with 4 power or more gain haste and trample until the end of the turn. As you might notice, every creature in this deck has 4 power or more, so you'll never find yourself unable to benefit from this ability.

You can also draw a lot of cards due to the high power every creature in this deck has. While you have Outcaster Trailblazer in play, whenever another creature with power 4 or greater enters play, you'll have to draw a card. There's only a single copy of Outcaster Trailblazer in this deck, so you won't have to worry too much about running out of cards in your library when this ability happens.

If your opponent happens to play a creature that has an ability that really messes with your deck, or an ability that greatly benefits them, you'll be happy to see a copy of Fresh Start. By enchanting an opponent's creature with this Aura, that creature will lose 5 power as well as all abilities. That debuff can be exactly what you need to finish off your opponent.

Jund Pursuit

The final deck I have for you this week is a Jund deck that specializes in sacrificing its own artifacts for great value. Let's take a look at the deck.

Obsessive Pursuit
Biotech Specialist
Legion Extruder

Obsessive Pursuit is a new enchantment that slowly causes you to lose life while giving you a Clue token each turn. It also offers you a way to potentially gain some of that lost life back, if you're able to sacrifice 3 or more permanents in a turn. Even if you can't take advantage of the lifelink this card can provide, you're likely to gain a number of +1/+1 counters on some of your creatures.

The sacrifice theme of this deck becomes more prominent when looking at Biotech Specialist. This Insect Scientist creates a Lander token when it comes into play. It also gives you a repeatable source of damage that you can deal to your opponent. Whenever you sacrifice an artifact, you'll deal 2 damage directly to your opponent's life total.

By combining the sacrifice benefits of Obsessive Pursuit and Biotech Specialist with Legion Extruder, you'll gain a lot of momentum in your quest to win the game. Not only does Legion Extruder deal 2 damage to any target when it enters the battlefield, but it also has an activated ability that you can use to sacrifice another artifact in order to create a 3/3 Golem artifact creature token. Whether you attack with or sacrifice this token is up to you, but either choice can help you win the game.

Wrapping Up

There you go, a few more decks that you can try out as we await more Lorwyn Eclipsed previews. I think each of these decks looks fun to play, and I can't wait to try them out.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
