There is no denying that Green is the strongest color when it comes to the casual side of Commander. Green gives you an early game ramp which can be used to turbo out huge threats so early on in the game. Your Rampant Growth on turn two now can turn into a turn three Harmonize or something even better. Green has the most impactful four-drops in Commander, since it essentially gets to play a turn ahead of everyone with early game ramp. Let's start digging through the list of cards!
Awakening
Awakening is the first card to consider. Awakening is considered a Group Hug type of card. However, if you are playing a Commander with an activated ability, this card is a must have. Seedborn Muse is very similar to this effect on a body. Awakening comes down one turn earlier and won't draw as much hate if you have an opponent that can use it effectively. This is a card that I overlooked for a long time and now is a staple inclusion in my Slimefoot deck. Maybe you have a deck this card would be perfect for too.
Bear Umbra
Bear Umbra is a classic. Totem Armor is a powerful keyword to help protect your most important creature on the board. Nine times out of ten, this is your Commander, but you never know. Bear Umbra allows you to untap all your lands when you attack with the enchanted creature. This effect is very similar to Awakening, but since it is on an attack trigger, it will fit in a different niche. This card is also known to go infinite with its good friend Aggravated Assault or Hellkite Charger. Bear Umbra is a great aura to include instead of a card like Lightning Greaves if you have a use for all of that mana.
Elven Chorus
Elven Chorus is an overcosted Cryptolith Rite, so why is it on this list? Elven Chorus fits perfectly in Commander decks that want to overwhelm the table with creatures. This enchantment allows those creatures to tap for mana, but also allows you to have access to the top of your library. By having access to the top of your library, you essentially get to have one more card in your hand than your opponents. You also have perfect knowledge of what you will draw next turn, which could shape your decisions in your current turn. I think these types of effects are nice to have. Even though this one is a little costly for four mana, it makes up for the fact of allowing your creatures to tap for mana. Creature token decks that are heavy on creatures want this card more than anything.
Conduit of Worlds
Eternal Witness has been a Commander staple for years, and continues to be. Being able to cast things back from your graveyard to a powerful thing. Conduit of Worlds allows us to do this each turn! It also has the added bonus of giving us access to our lands in our graveyard as well. Fetch lands are perfect along with this card, as well as certain utility lands like Command Beacon, or even Strip Mine. Golgari leans heavily into sacrificing your permanents for added value. Conduit of Worlds allows you to recast those permanents each turn. Conduit does have a downside of not allowing you to cast anymore spells, but that might be worth it to cast that spell you desperately need to either win the game or stop an opponent.
Oracle of Mul Daya
Oracle of Mul Daya is a great turn three or four play in Landfall decks. This card gives you the knowledge of what is on top of your deck, allows you to play it if it is a land, and gives you the ability to play two lands instead of just one. Oracle is a staple in decks that care about lands constantly falling into play. Scute Swarm, Avenger of Zendikar, and Greensleeves, Maro-Sorcerer are all Green examples of cards that pair nicely with Oracle that you can play either the turn before or after it hits the field. It never hurts to have lands in play. It thins your deck so you see more non lands which you should have no problem casting with all your extra mana.
Beast Whisperer
You just knew it would be on this list somewhere! Beast Whisperer is such a powerful card engine in Green that it can't be ignored. Replacing each creature you cast with a brand new card is strong. My favorite interaction is that you still get to draw off Mutate abilities. Beast Whisperer has the added bonus of being an Elf which is most likely the strongest creature type when it comes to Commander.
Green is such a powerhouse that these aren't all of the best cards for 4 mana. This is only part one! Look out for part two where I break down even stronger cards than these!
See you on the battlefield!
