Wizards Announces A New Set of Secret Lairs

NEW SECRET LAIR ALERT! That's right, a whole new batch of Secret Lairs are on their way this Monday! While there aren't any official images shared yet that I can include here, videos and articles circulated the internet throughout the week showing things like cards styled after arcade machines and Hot Wheels toy packaging. Some even featured famous artists like Luke Pearson and the legendary Mitsuhara Arita - famous for illustrating the original Base Set Charizard from the Pokemon Trading Card Game. All of these go on sale on February 10th, so check out the official Secret Lair store front to check them all out and get your hands on the latest and greatest sets of Secret Lairs.

A Magic: the Gathering Movie is in the Works

Revealed yesterday by The Command Zone, a new Magic: The Gathering film is in the works with Wizards and Hasbro partnering with Legendary Entertainment. Little is known about the project at this time, however it was stated that this would also lead into a television series that will turn into a wider Magic: The Gathering cinematic universe of sorts. This comes shortly after the news that the Netflix animated series was being revamped and coming soon as well. Many fans offered skepticism toward such a thing happening, however, as numerous Magic film partnerships and television series have been announced in the past with nothing coming of it. Still, fresh news like this has felt exciting to many more, and it will be great to follow as the project develops further.

The MTG Wiki Goes to Scryfall

BIG news! The MTG Wiki is now being hosted by @scryfall.com on mtg.wiki

This means all the same wiki content you looked up constantly, tab by tab, reading the vast history of the game but on a platform with ZERO advertisement.

No stupid banners. No stupid videos autoplaying. AD. FREE.

In my personal opinion, the MTG Wiki is one of the most unsung treasures of the greater Magic: The Gathering sphere. When writing articles just like these, it's an excellent resource to pull lore information, expansion set history, and player or tournament history. Now, it was announced this week that the beloved wiki will be moved from its prior host Fandom - notorious for being bogged down with advertisements - to an ad-free space hosted by Scryfall. This shift provides a one-to-one conversion with the same revision history, references, and more remaining intact. Go check it out and discover a bit about Magic history!

Decklist of the Week

In case you haven't been paying too much attention to Modern over the past month or so, the format has been seeing some fairly interesting shifts. Case in point: there's an all new midrange deck that's hit the format utilizing Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd and Flickerwisp to blink permanents for repeated ETB effects. This has led to what is essentially a very Death and Taxes style of deck that has been crushing it across a wide variety of Modern events lately. It's a favorite among top decks going into the Regional Championship in Portland this weekend, so be sure to keep your eye on it and see how it does over the next few days!
