First Look at Innistrad Remastered Previews

This Tuesday, Wizards held their usual Weekly MTG stream. This time, the focus was on the upcoming Innistrad Remastered set that comes out in January and they showed off some sweet new hotness! Borderless poster cards, retro frames are back - including a new retro Liliana of the Veil, and a special headliner Edgar Markov serialized card made up some of the clear highlights from what was shown off. The set looks awesome, so make sure you check with your local game store to find out how you can get in on it, or else just go to the Innistrad Remastered set page right here on CoolStuffInc.com to lock in your box now!

Previews will continue - and finish - in early January, so keep your eyes peeled for more awesome cards in the near future! If you're interested in learning more about Innistrad Remastered, check out these official resources from the Mothership:

This week, Wizards of the Coast revealed the initial information for MagicCon Chicago 2025, running it back at the same venue two years in a row. This event features all kinds of outstanding events, such as the Pro Tour and a new focus on Dungeons & Dragons in addition to Magic: The Gathering. Players noted several interesting events, such as a Dandan (aka Forgetful Fish) tournament with graded copies of Dandan as prizes and the new Secret Lair Showcase event. This Secret Lair event focuses less on the high competitive angle seen over the past two years and instead takes a more fun approach, allowing players to randomly inject Planechase cards into their games. This change follows controversy surrounding the events stemming from the Secret Lair Showdown held at GenCon earlier this year.

Find out all the information here and make sure to check in on Monday, December 9 to get in on the Early Bird pass deals!

Cedric Phillips Joins Wizards of the Coast

Late last week, renowned Magic personality Cedric Phillips revealed he would be joining Wizards of the Coast as Play Design manager soon. As such, he noted that he'll no longer be doing lots of the things he's become known for over the years including SCG coverage, The Resleeveables, and his Coalesce Apparel clothing brand. Instead, he'll be working alongside some of the brightest and best of Magic game designers in the near future, which is exciting to see what he brings to the table.

You may have seen Cedric's announcement, if not, he's going to WotC to be PD manager. Incredible opportunity, I think he's going to kill it out there. RS/US/etc. isn't going anywhere, ideally there won't even be a hitch in production but the logistics are a little tricky so we'll see.

— Patrick Sullivan (@basicmountain.bsky.social) November 29, 2024 at 11:11 AM

Fellow Resleevables co-host Patrick Sullivan reiterated the sentiment about Cedric no longer being able to perform his duties on the show or its accompanying Unsleeved podcast. As Cedric hinted at in his announcement video, Patrick notes that the series will continue on without his longtime co-host and they'll instead bring on someone new. This person is noted to be a hall of famer and pro tour champion, so there's been plenty of guesses and speculation as to who it might be.

Good luck to Cedric at Wizards, and best of luck to Patrick and the new co-host on The Resleevables! If you've never checked out their work, I personally highly recommend it if you like looking back at Magic's long and storied history and how we got where we are now. Decklist of the Week

With Pioneer Masters coming to the client this week, I felt it only proper to include a Pioneer list this week! Since I just did a full write-up on new decks available on Arena because of the set, I figured I should highlight something already accessible. Selesnya Company is currently one of the top decks of the meta, taking the Pioneer format by storm earlier this year and rising to a new level of playability with Duskmourn: House of Horror's Enduring Innocence. The deck plays by utilizing hatebears, flash creatures, and of course Collected Company to lockdown the opponent's game plan until you can overwhelm and obliterate them.
