Brennan DeCandio wins CCS Atlanta 10K (Again!)

Charlie's Collectible Show in Stone Mountain, Georgia, held another large weekend event where Brennan DeCandio won the main event. DeCandio brought his current iteration of an Amber Steel aggro list, aptly named Diggy Diggy Hole. Let's take a look at the decklist below:

Analysis

Seeing variants of Amber-Steel is always exciting. While a traditional Steelsong list tends to be one of the de facto high roll style decks I've grown to love and hate, we're seeing a more tame and consistent list here that can be just as impactful. A common discussion around A Whole New World and how it can either make or break your game isn't needed here since we're relying on draw power from Doc - Bold Knight, Rapunzel - Gifted with Healing, and Let the Storm Rage On. An unsuspecting opponent may play into assuming you have and plan to play A Whole New World, when instead you simply turn characters sideways and race to the finish. Removing the reliance on traditional singers allows you to go full aggro and provide defenses when necessary with Pete - Games Referee, Pluto - Guard Dog, and Kida - Protector of Atlantis. Lastly, a move that is pretty exciting is revisiting locations with the inclusion of Seven Dwarfs' Mine - Secure Fortress. Not only does it provide us safe lore gain through our biggest weakness, which is board wipes, it provides us another means to deal damage without relying on more songs. I don't expect this to be an easy deck to pick up and play right away, but I encourage you to try it, especially if you come from an Amber Steel or aggro background. New Disney Lorcana Challenge Location Unveiled - Australia!

A newly announced Disney Lorcana Challenge event was recently announced to take place in Australia on February 1st and 2nd 2025. This event is hosted by TAK Games and will consist of the typical 2 day scheduled event, where the main event takes place on day 1 and the top 64 players cut to day 2 and play out for the following coveted prizing:

Swiss Performance (approx. Top 64) - Let It Go

Top 32 Players - Foil Cinderella - Stouthearted

Top 16 Players - Foil Rapunzel - Gifted with Healing

Top 4 Players - Serialized Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Tailor

Top 2 Players - 2 Displays of Current Set + Prize Wall Tickets

Winner - Challenge Trophy + Full Foil Set of Current Challenge Legal Set (Including Enchanted Cards)

It has also been confirmed that the top 2 players from this event are invited to Disney Lorcana Challenge Worlds, held sometime in 2025. This is different from both the NA and EU region DLCS since 1st place only received an invite to Worlds. This may be different to help fill in the rest of the bracket needed, since we're at a total of 28 invites from both DLCs and Continentals collectively. Does this mean we might have other regions with DLCs to fill the bracket more? Nothing has been announced yet, but the moment it is, we'll make sure to cover it.
