In a truly stunning turnaround from prior statements, Wizards of the Coast revealed this week that Marvel Super Heroes will be releasing on MTG Arena with its license intact.
That's right - rather than getting another awkward Through the Omenpaths-stye release, we're getting the full Marvel goodness online. While the initial reveal was specifically for MTG Arena, a second announcement soon after confirmed this would also be the case for Magic Online.
Not only will we get the full Marvel treatment for this upcoming release, but we'll also finally get the actual Marvel's Spider-Man cards on the clients as well. On Arena, they'll replace the existing cards with the Through the Omenpaths versions becoming card styles. For Magic Online, sales of Through the Omenpaths will end soon and be replaced with fresh sales of Marvel's Spider-Man instead.
In many ways, this is a huge win. Regardless of whether you like the Marvel IP in Magic or not, there's no denying that Through the Omenpaths has led to a lot of weird logistical issues on the backend. While this means no new in-universe art is coming for Marvel Super Heroes, it does mean players can get the actual cards from Spider-Man while still having access to fan favorite Fleem, Goben's Creation.
The debut stream for Marvel Super Heroes is expected to kick off on June 2nd, so get ready for a fun time of comic book shenanigans.

109 players will be duking it out playing the Historic format and vying for first place. The prizes not only include a $250,000 prize pool, but shots at the Pro Tour and the World Championship.
If you're looking to see the cool things you can do in this digital-only format, be sure to check out the official Magic Twitch stream Saturday and Sunday.
The Latest Banned and Restricted Announcement
This Monday saw the release of the latest Banned and Restricted announcement for Magic. This time around, changes were made to Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Pauper, and Alchemy in what was a surprisingly meaty announcement.
Perhaps the most impactful of these changes were the ones that impacted Modern. Here, two cards were banned in Phlage, Titan of Fire's Fury and Lotus Field. Additionally, we saw two unbannings with Violent Outburst and Umezawa's Jitte coming off the ban list.
Additionally, the WeeklyMTG stream on Tuesday dropped an interesting tidbit in regards to Pioneer. As it's come up frequently during the last few B&R streams, host Blake Rasmussen talked with the Organized Play team regarding the state of the format. While the particulars are still being hashed out, he did confirm that they were looking for ways to run more Pioneer events in 2027.
You can check out the full announcement on Wizards' website or read my breakdown of the changes here on CoolStuffInc.
Goblin Storm Secret Lair Controversy
The Goblin Storm Secret Lair Commander deck went on sale this Monday and it became a hot topic among fans.
The deck sold out within roughly a half hour, marking another in a long line of recent high profile items that have sold out extremely fast. This is extra wild when you take into account that Wizards lowered the amount customers could get to just one copy of the deck.

The artist who was featured across several cards in the deck, Wizard of Barge, spoke out on the matter. He expressed disappointment that many fans weren't unable to get a copy and hopes to try convincing Wizards to produce a second run of the deck at some point in the future.
A New Article Preservation Site Unveiled
The modern internet age is starting to reveal its cracks. As time goes on, once prominent web pages decay away and are eventually lost to time. The same is true for many Magic: the Gathering articles, several of which date back into the 90s almost thirty years ago.
Magic: The Gathering writing has a short half-life. Historically-important articles are taken offline every year. This sucks.
That's why I'm launching Library of Leng, an index of 32 years of Magic writing. 150k+ articles, 20+ sites, fully searchable.

Gregor Stocks has set up the website Library of Leng, a page titled after the card of the same name that compiles a database for the majority of MTG articles. These go all the way from the days of The Dojo to websites on the present day.
While articles aren't hosted on the page itself without explicit permission, it still provides a major hub for fans to explore the wide world of written Magic content. Even if you can't read the articles directly on the site, it will provide you with the appropriate link to the original host link so you can read it where it first debuted.
Go check it out and support Magic articles.

This past weekend saw two more Regional Championship events happening in the United States and Canada.
The more interesting of the two winning decks was easily the one that came out of the event in Ottawa, Canada. This Mardu Discard list, piloted by Dawson Courson, saw a relatively new list breaking out into the metagame. This takes the previously existing Rakdos Discard deck and adding in White for powerful new cards like Hardened Academic, Practiced Offense, and Erode. If you're playing in Washington D.C. next week, you'd better make sure you have a game plan ready for this deck.
Congratulations to Zachary Aymie, who took down the Regional Championship for the United States with a breakout Four-Color Control deck!

The United States RC held in Cincinnati, Ohio was won by Zachary Aymie on Four-Color Control. This deck has been on a noticeable rise following the previous week's results and is a great pick for the coming weeks ahead.
Congratulations to both winners on their tremendous victory!
