Hello all and happiest of days to each of you! I hope your day is going as well as possible and that everything is nice. When Zendikar debuted as Adventure World with Quests and Traps and such, it also had Allies to come together across colors, and then a full party when we came back too and tons of great Allies too. Other than Slivers, from the get go they were meant to be all colors, and were very, very popular as a result. Then we just had another huge addition of this beloved and flavorful time in the Avatar sets. Today let's look at my Top ones for all casual brews from Commander to Five Color to multiplayer and on. There might be stuff here to lead our brew or not.
#20. Bala Ged Thief
This four-drop rare mono-Black Rogue is first. When this or other Allies arrive, you can make a foe reveal their hand equal to your Ally count and one gets discarded. That's nasty and will quickly force folks to cast their hand or play them to the table, either works there. Not bad, but some might not like discard stuff much.
#19. Kazuul Warlord and Tajuru Warcaller
Next up are these two game winners in Gruul colors for five mana each. The Red rare has an okay 3/3 size and the turns them as they arrive into a perma-counter pump of one. Then the smaller 2/1 uncommon Green one turns them arriving into our team getting +2/+2 this turn! Not bad, but a little smaller, and very small size easily killed by anything.
#18. Kabira Evangel and Hero of Goma Fada
Next up are these two great ways to get in an attack with no ways to lose the team. The three-drop 2/3 rare will give our Ally arrival pro from one color that turn, easy against one color and you can swing free for blocking if one player has a color on defense and then I like that with Red damage-based sweepers like Blasphemous Act too. Then the latter five-drop 4/3 rare also has our Allies arriving giving the team indestructible for the turn, also good in tons of places, and if you have a flash engine this keeps you alive when foes swing at you or sweep too.
#17. Resolute Blademaster
Next is this Boros five-drop uncommon smaller 2/2 size. When it or others arrive, they all get double strike, I know, great to skate and strongly done stuff too. Remember that's all dorks, not just our Allies.
#16. Murasa Pyromancer
Next up is this fun and okay Red uncommon 3/2 removal body. It's got a six-mana cost and then when it or other Allies arrive, we can Bolt a dork our Ally count. Nice, right? I think so too, hence it being here.
#15. Suki, Kyoshi Warrior
This four-drop X/4 legendary lady also in Selesnya has power to all of our dorks! When she swings make a tapped and attacking dork of the Ally and 1/1 persuasion too. Note that size is all dorks, not just Allies.
#14. General Tazri
This fun five-drop 3/4 mono-White legendary lady has an ETB to tutor an Ally to our hand and then and activates with a mana of each color over and over again to pump the team equal to our Ally count - great stuff to lead or just be in non-Commander brews too. Love her loads.
#13. Wartime Protestors
This four-drop on-curve 4/4 haster is next with the ability to give our Allies that arrive haste too! Then they'll also get a +1/+1 counter too right on them. Nasty win-con there for them all!
#12. Sokka, Tenacious Tactician
This four-drop legendary dork in Jeskai colors is with menace and prowess and then gives them all both abilities! Then as we cast non-creature stuff, we can make one Ally of them 1/1 size - great in a Spellslinger style shell too - note that's not just sorceries or instants too. I know, not bad at all here and all.
#11. South Pole Voyager AND Kalastria Healer
This two-drop duos are here to gain one life as Allies arrive with something else. That White rare Bear draws a card the second time it happens! Then the 1/2 common Black one will also drain life from our foes too! Not bad in either case.
#10. Turntimber Ranger
Next up is this iconic go wide dork! It costs five-Green for a 2/2 that arrives with a 2/2 Wolf buddy and then a +1/+1 counter here. Then that also happens for all of our Allies that a arrive too! I know, great stuff for the win-tuff.
#9. Agadeem Occultist
This three-drop smaller size dork at 0/2 size is a mana free tapper in Black! It's great at recurring opposing stuff at our Ally count or cheaper right onto the battlefield. That's fun, but's it's on an easily answered size, and then we don't know what our foes may be frumping around with and then in the graveyard too. Nice though, just as a change of pace too.
#8. Ondu Cleric
Next up is this nasty life gain common two-drop Cleric 1/1 body. When this or others arrive, gain your Allies total in life! I know, that's pretty good very soon, to get us to a rough to answer life total. Get it and run it!
#7. Munda, Ambush Leader
This fun four-drop Boros 3/4 haster legendary Kor has an ETB ability for him or other Allies to dig four and put Allies on top in any order and then the rest on the bottom must be placed there, just as a heads up. This can eat time like activating Sensei's Divining Top can too, so steer clear where possible as a leader doing this over and over again.
#6. Hakoda, Selfless Commander
This beefier 3/5 four-drop vigilance mono-White dork is amazing in support of Allies and could lead them too as legendary, but he feels better in support here due to his colors. You can cast the top card of our library if it's an Ally, broken with the previous one putting them there, as long as we have the mana, but that's great card advantage since they didn't get didn't get drawn, right? Always do this if you can and then sac it like Selfless Spirit to save the team with indestructible and bigger butt too.
#5. Tuktuk Scrapper
This amazing bit of Shatter removal is next with it's 2/2 four-drop body! When it or another Ally arrives Shatter. Nice! So, why is that here or this high? Since the controller of what dies eats our Ally count in damage! I know, nasty good in all of the spaces. They might sac their stuff when this is on the stack, like Treasures and Clues and Commander's Spheres or Mind Stones.
#4. Katara, the Fearless
This fun three-drop is my favorite Ally leader from the previous set since you have ramp. She's got an on-curve 3/3 body and then all Ally triggers trigger again! She's basically an Ally doubler in your Command Zone support too!
#3. Sea Gate Loremaster
Who wants to draw all of cards? This smaller 1/3 five-drop taps for drawing one for each Ally we have out there! You can draw tons for replaying and refilling our hand madly. Then cast them with the mad mana making of #1. Wowzer Bowzer!
#2. Hagra Diabolist
This five-drop smaller body 3/2 Black uncommon wins the game fast with a go-wide Ally brew since when it or other Allies arrive you have someone lose life equal to their count. Nasty I know and pretty good at all of the game-winning since you can kill folks fast no matter their starting or current life total.
#1. Harabaz Druid AND Great Divide Guide
This two set are tops to my mind since they reward you for going wide with Allies by tapping for that in Mana. The 0/1 two-drop first is a Priest of Titania for your Allies for one color but any. Then that two-drop 2/3 Ally let's our other Allies and lands tap for any colors too, one per like making them all BOPs. That pair reward us massively for going wide by making tons of mana to drop more or win-cons too. Embrace their power.
There we go, so what did you think of my top Allies? Just let me know your thoughts!
