A Final Top Twenty for Final Fantasy: Commander

Reddit

Hello and happiest of days to each of you and I hope your day is going super mega well! Today we are counting down our final cards from the recent set FF but this is just their newly released new stuff in the Commander decks. Ready for the good stuff to smash your apprehensions open? I hope so! This is for casual and kitchen table stuff like multiplayer, Five Color, Commander, multiplayer, Type Four, Highlander and then multiplayer. Multiplayer is my first stop on this meandering road. Ready? I hope so!

Honorable Mention #1. (#24. Overall) - Lyse Hext

Lyse Hext

This powerful Azorius legendary lady is first. She's got prowess, is a Familiar for them by reducing their cost by one and then has double strike as long as you've cast at least two - easily done here. With three ways to interact with non-dorks, she's great, but a bit boring, hence her being on my third list!

Honorable Mention #2. - (#23. Overall) - Yuna's Whistle

Yuna's Whistle

This three-cost instant speed Green thang will dig until you reveal a dork, you'll draw it and then pump a dork permanently with counters equal to its cost a great Commander kill option or combat trick. Since things in Type Four with its infinite mana tend to be pricey that's strong there too!

Honorable Mention #3. - (#22. Overall) - Estinien Varlineau

Estinien Varlineau

This awesome four-drop Orzhov Spellslinger caring Hill Giant is next. When you cast one, toss a counter here and then it gets flying and then on the second main phase you draw equal to the number of times this guy and Dragons too smashed face, so insert double strike Equipment or stuff like True Conviction.

Honorable Mention #4. - (#21. Overall) - Shadow, Mysterious Assassin

Shadow, Mysterious Assassin

This fun three-drop deathtouch on-curve 3/3 body with a card drawing to sac another nonland when it punches face to draw two and then each foe loses life equal to its cost as a win-con too. Nasty from Treasures for cards to something about to die in your upkeep with fading. Enjoy this mass card drawing and player killing machine.

#20. O'aka, Traveling Merchant

O'aka, Traveling Merchant

This fun two-drop also card drawing machine from removing one of your resources is next! It costs two, has an okay 1/2 size, and then taps to swap a counter on any nonland for a card - planeswalkers, artifacts, all of them! Yay for that, but note that's not lands...insert sad face there!

#19. Summoning Materia

Summoning Materia

This fun Green three-drop non-job select Equipment will let you look at the top card of your library and then cast if a dork if this is Equipped for two. Then your dork gets +2/+2 in size and vigilance and they are a Llanowar Elves. Totally great to skate!

#18. Cid, Freeflier Pilot

Cid, Freeflier Pilot

This amazingly awesome two-drop Bear size dork for Vees and Equipment is next. Their cost is reduced by 1 so some like Skullclamp are now free. Then on your turn this dude has flying and then taps with two mana to Regrowth one back to your hand for another cast and go around the bin. That's amazingly awesome and I'd argue better than the previous best two-drop Sram for them in that color either leading or supplementing a Commander too.

#17. Professor Hojo

Professor Hojo

This unusual new Green dork opens up a brand-new mechanic for Commander as a leader. Your first activated ability each turn costs two less if it targets your stuff. Then when that happens, you'll also draw that sweet card once/turn. I love that interested self-targeting but only for your activations of things there - like Equipment. Nice right? I congree (a portmanteau of concur and agree)!

#16. Champions from Beyond

Champions from Beyond

This fun X costed White with double to start enchantment is next! It'll arrive with that many tokens of the 1/1 size and then when you get your swing on with four scry and draw and then eight or more, they'll all be boosted in size by +4/+4 - nice for going wide brews like aggro and tokens, and this is a great mana sink in ramp too to make them in this one spell. Love this thing loads, just cast in the pre-combat, attack and then draw to replace it then and there.

#15. Gau, Feral Youth

Gau, Feral Youth

This fun Bear cost and size red rare is next! When he swings perma-pump him with a +1/+1 counter. Then on each end step if something left the graveyard to go anywhere, you can shoot all foes equal to this's power - so that grows in damage as he does in size over time! Great little win con there for your graveyard interaction brews just for doing what you want. Get this and run it all up and down the block!

#14. Rikku, Resourceful Guardian

Rikku, Resourceful Guardian

This awesomely strong three-drop 2/3 size is next with the Blue color and legendary lady. When you toss counters onto dorks, they are unblockable for the turn which is brilliant in all of the spaces. Then you can tap her with a mana to steal a counter from your foe to you, and then trigger her first ability - love that so much in all of the good spaces!

#13. Aerith, Last Ancient

Aerith, Last Ancient

This fun Selesnya four-drop legendary lady with a fine blockable butt at 3/5 and then lifelink too with an EOT trigger for everyone's favorite lifegain brews to Regrowth a dork to your hand or Zombify it if 7 or more life was gained. That's great combo of lifegain and recursion, two beloved Archetypes brought together - love her much! Embrace your Inner Aerith!

#12. Urianger Augurelt

Urianger Augurelt

This two-drop 1/3 dork in Azorius colors is next! When you drop a land or cast a spell from exile gain 2 life. Then you can tap him to maybe exile the top card of your library and then cast it with reduced cost of two after another tap. Nice and that's great with tons of ways like suspend to cast from exile too. Get this fun Elf Advisor!

#11. Coin of Fate

Coin of Fate

This two-drop mono-White artifact arrives with surveil 1 to library search and then fill that graveyard too. Then you can tap this with four to exile two dorks from your graveyard, one gets tucked and then the other gets back tapped - your foes choose and then you become the Monarch too to draw that card and then sac it too! Who wouldn't want to run this sexy thing? I hear you!

#10. Setzer, Wandering Gambler

Setzer, Wandering Gambler

Our Top Ten and halfway done card is this Rakdos legendary dork ETBs and then make a 3/3 legendary Vee called the Blackjack with flying and crew 2 and then when any Vee deals combat damage you flip a coin. When you win them from anything, make two tapped Treasures for ramping. Casual players just adore their coin flipping good stuff.

#9. Celes, Rune Knight

Celes, Rune Knight

This fun Mardu four-drop on-curve 4/4 ETBs and you can discard any number of cards and then draw them plus one on arrival--great! Then when a dork ETBs from your graveyard then all of your dorks get pumped permanently by a +1/+1 counter! What's not to love and adore here?

#8. Blue Mage's Cane

Blue Mage's Cane

This job select three-drop Blue rare is next with the ability to pump the butt by two, it's a Wizard and then when it swings you can exile a spell from their stuff and cast it with a copy for three mana rather than its cost - that's an amazingly awesome free source of getting your Spell casts on!

#7. Conformer Shuriken

Conformer Shuriken

This two-drop colorless legendary Equipment with an also equip of 2 is next! The dork you equip gets a swing trigger to tap an opposing dork when it swings to ensure it hits. Then if that dork had a greater power...quite likely right? Make this it's size permanently with +1/+1 counters! That's so nasty, and scales up as more expensive stuff is cast over the course of a game. It's also playable in that Type Four with infinite mana but just one spell per turn barring alternate costs like Force of Will getting paid. There your foe can drop a first-turn 10/10 Gigantasaurus so dropping this on your 6/6 Rith and then swinging, tapping and growing too, is just downright nasty there. Love it! Try this and get your enhanced smash on!

#6. Tromell, Seymour's Butler

Tromell, Seymour's Butler

This three-drop 2/3 size dork in Green that's legendary gives other dorks that ain't tokens that arrive on your side with an extra +1/+1 counter and then you can tap him with a generic mana to proliferate equal to the number of them that arrived this turn. We all know how popular this stuff is with casual players from counters to proliferation in mass - get this fun little Butler! Try him out and let me know your thoughts!

#5. Kimahri, Valiant Guardian

Kimahri, Valiant Guardian

This four-drop Simic critter is next with vigilance to lead your team. Then in your combat you'll toss a counter here and then Clone a foe's dork and then tap it too save it's got vigilance and then the copy ability too. Love this Clone and growing in size dork with the tapping too on a legendary dork to lead. Love their potential loads!

#4. The Falcon, Airship Restored

The Falcon, Airship Restored

This fun three-drop legendary artifact Vehicle is next! It has flying, 4/3 size and a fine crew at 2 and then a combat damage trigger to sac it and then Zombify a dork to your battlefield. Then you can spend five mana to bring it back tapped to keep it up. It can also lead a Commander Brew as a legendary Vee now. I think has great potential all along the train, so Come on and Ride it!

#3. Chocobo Knights

Chocobo Knights

Next up in counter win-con land is this Hill Giant costed and size dork in White that'll give them all double strike, note that's not just +1/+1 counters but all of them! Love that with everything from Shield Counters to flying ones.

#2. Alisaie Leveilleur and Alphinaud Leveilleur

Alisaie Leveilleur
Alphinaud Leveilleur

Next up are these two partners, the White one-costs three, has an okay 3/2 size with first strike and then your second spell you cast has a cost reduction of 2. Then the Blue one-costs another with a 2/4 vigilance body and then your second spell cast each turn will draw you that sweet card! Love that last one much, and that's on all turns too. Great in multiplayer.

#1. Tataru Taru

Tataru Taru

This is our final card in the FF set! This legendary Dwarf costs two for a nice blocking 0/3 size. Then when she enters you have you and a foe each draw, and then she turns into a Hate Bear that when your foes draw not on their turn you can make a tapped Treasure, but just once per turn, love that with Temple Bell and Group Hug stuff. Love her with Group Hug, Hate Bears, Treasure brews and leading your deck too.

There we go, and we have finished all of the various FF sets! Next week we are looking at my top choices for Edge of Eternities. Enjoy the week and then see you then!
