Hello and happiest of days to you today! Today I wanted to show our second Take on a Commander Brew from a legendary dork from the Sci-Fi themed Edge of Eternities! This is also a legendary artifact dork with colors too, check out last's week's Five Color brew here.
Alright, so let's get started with our Selesnya leader here:
Here they are! With an X spell, evasion in trample, two mana to start, one toughness and then size equal to the mana spent...not the X. If you spent 1 in the X it'd be a 3/4 trampler, make sense? Then when you swing with anything you pull one counter off of two thangs to draw and then make a 2/2 Robot dork too. I do think this name sounds like a Diet Pill. Get that weight off with Dyadrine! Anyway, we'll be building around dorks that have +1/+1 counters, or get them, and then make that Mana with sinks to get that trampling giant body to kill with it in the red zone either on its own or as Commander Damage and then be big enough to use it for card drawing and token making.
Mana, Ramp, Lands and Rocks
Now let's start with these three spells. The two-drop rare Elf with evolve and a 1/2 size taps for Green equal to its counter count. Then the middle spell there is also a two--drop Elf Druid mana dork with 0/2 size this time and taps for one mana of your land count - or three if it's got a counter on it, and it's got adapt 3 for five mana to make that happen. I skipped the three-cost ramp spells like Cultivate or two-cost like Rampant Growth to give me two land ramp spells above - it costs four ramps two basics tapped and then has a four-mana kicker to add two +1/+1 counters on everything you have! Good early or late.
Now let's makle our dorks tap for that Green mana like Citanul Hierophants and Rishkar, Peema Renegade. The first costs four, and all dorks do it naturally. Then the last arrives and tosses two +1/+1 counters and your encountered stuff gets the mana tap this time. Great pair!
The common three-drop Elemental Fertilid starts with two counters and then can pull one off for two mana to Rampant Growth - note that can be instant speed. Then the very rough triple Green three-drop Circle of Dreams Druid taps for mana equal to your dork count. Then the ramp spell Boundless Realms costs seven for ramping basics equal to our land count tapped. That's a huge X mana maker! Nasty good here!
Now let's turn to lands! The Selesnya color identity one taps for colorless and then with four to toss a counter on each of our dorks! Then the Green tapping Planet ETBs tapped and then Stations at 12 to make it a Gaea's Cradle. Then I have also tossed in Nykthos too for mass mana.
The colorless tapper Nesting Grounds is next and taps with one at sorcery speed to swap a counter around from one permanent to another. Note, it doesn't change types. I also tossed in the proliferating Karn's Bastion too. Then Oran-Rief, the Vastwood taps for nothing to toss +1/+1 counters on all Green dorks that ETBed this turn even your foes.
Now let's finish with this trio! The land taps for colorless and with two to toss two counters on one of our non-Human dorks that ETBed this turn only. Then the Green tapping ETB tapped is next and it can be sacked at sorcery speed with three mana to add a +1/+1 counter to two dorks and then they get two keywords. I then needed some mana sinks in land form - enter the Lair of the Hydra to become a dork and then get our swing on, and then the above one to mana sink four mana here to toss a pair of counters and then, if you wanna, make it a dork - but you don't have to.
+1/+1 Counter Stuff and Mana Sinks
Now let's turn to my mana sinks and +1/+1 matters stuff. Let's start with the former with the Standard legal XX artifact dork. It arrives with that many counters, can get one for four mana and then when it des you'll draw a card for each one it had. Great! I adore the Green rare Plant, since it has a cast trigger to dig X and then toss one with its mana value or less onto the battlefield - so it can be a bit of a Tooth and Nail. You also wanna tap out for it to dig more and then cast something bigger.
Now let's turn to counter stuff. Good-Fortune Unicorn will hand out a +1/+1 counter to them all when they ETB the battlefield - love that here all up and down the block. Then the four-drop mono-Green uncommon Renata, Called to the Hunt has power equal to our devotion to Green and then other stuff also ETB with the counters.
Now let's finish with one trampler of each. The triple-Green X Spell will die and then draw us that many cards and also gain life too, don't sleep on that last one. Great! Then the five-drop 4/4 dork with evasion in trample attacks and then doubles all of our pretty little counters - it too! Love that win-con here so much!
Synergies and Win-Cons
Now let's turn to these two synergies and win-cons! The Selesnya Bear rare legendary dork with vigilance and then reach has an attack trigger to put a counter on all of your tokens and Rabbits which we have tons of the former. Then if all of our dorks have enough power, you can draw. The legendary artifact costs four, Green stuff costs one less, and then when counters arrive to our stuff - double them! I also tossed in things like Doubling Season here too. Then you can tap it with six to toss two counters on your stuff.
Ouroboroid costs four, has a 1/3 size and then in your combat grows everyone's size in counters equal to its power, so drop it pre-combat, get its pump, and then swing and now grow next turn by +2/+2 and then up from there fast. Then the enchantment rare Commander and Multiplayer Classic Cathars' Crusade costs five for when a dork arrives toss a counter on each of them - a fast win-con and synergy here.
The uncommon three-drop Elf Druid Evolution Sage has landfall to proliferate your stuff on a 3/2 size. Nasty! I also tossed in proliferating Metastatic Evangel to do so when nontokens arrive on your side! Then I tossed in the win-con Walking Ballista, four-mana sink here to toss one on and then pull one off for a damage. You could toss in infinite kill buddy Heliod, but we'll steer clear of that and just use him as a mana sink fairer kill of anything from foes to all of their stuff.
Now let's turn to this fun duo of Spikes that move tokens to other stuff for two mana. The Uncommon is size 2/2 and then three to play and then pulls them off for a pair of life each. Then the four-drop rare has three, and then pulls them off for a mana to Fog this turn. Both are amazing to move over counters to help them out to gain life or Fog.
The splashable four-drop 0/3 Forgotten Ancient has anyone casting spells to toss a counter here and then in your upkeep you can hop them to other dorks and as many - Spike Feeder? Fertilid? Nasty! Then the Bear mythic Bristly Bill, Spine Sower has landfall to put a counter on your dork and then five mana to double them on all dorks. Nasty here!
Let's finish with this White dork trio. The three-drop 2/3 with outlast one is first. It gives them flying. Then the six-drop uncommon Selesnya legendary one has affinity on an okay 5/5 size and then gives that to our stuff too. Then the last one-costs four for a 3/4 size one with ward two and then when it swings? Each of my dorks with a power greater than their base one will grow with counters into that difference - fast win con here.
Answers
Now let's turn to answers - we'll start with four ways to protect my stuff like Heroic Intervention and then then the above three. The common one-cost will toss a counter on a dork and then hexproof to save it! Great as a combat trick too. Then the three-cost one will give all of my countered stuff indestructible and then draw equal to them too. Then the two-cost one just printed gives it a counter, it gains trample, reach and indestructible too and then untaps it too- great to keep it alive, chump block a flyer outta nowhere with a tapped dork too.
Now let's turn to this targeted removal section. Archdruid's Charm will exile an artifact or enchantment to shut down answers and recursion, or grow our dork with a counter and Fight or Tutor a land tapped or dork into our hand. Requisition Raid can spree +1 to destroy an artifact, or the same for an enchantment or another to toss counters onto all of your stuff. Love that for four mana total here.
The White rare sorcery Daming Verdict mass-sweeps dorks, but saves them with any counters - love that here much. Then the one-drop on-curve dork District Mascot arrives with a counter and then you can pull off two to Shatter with two mana - pile that up and has Saddle and grows when it is. Then Steelbane Hydra grows with that X cost and then can pull one off for three to Naturalize. Love that to hand counters too for more removal! Great trio to finish this section with!
Card Draw
Now let's turn to card draw! This Selesnya legendary uncommon duo is first. The former five-drop 3/3 has an ETB to toss a counter on your dork as well when she swings too. Then when dorks with counters deal that damage you can draw, but just once per damage dealt - since it's worded as one "or more". Then the latter three-drop on-curve 3/3 is a bit of a Hate Bear with that your foes cannot cast stuff on our turn once it resolves, and then when stuff with greater power than base smash face - draw, but again, just once per. I also tossed in Toski for each combat damage drawing.
Now let's turn to a +1/+1 counter card draw duo. Armorcraft Judge costs four for an ETB to draw equal to your number of countered dorks. Then the three-drop enchantment Terrasymbiosis says once per turn you draw equal to the number of counters made - note just once. Nasty to refill that hand here.
Now let's finish with trio. The Green three-drop 3/3 will draw if your encountered dorks die - sad face. Then the four-drop uncommon artifact arrives with two and then you can pull them off two at a time to draw, no mana, and then spend a mana to discard and add one. Then you can toss counters here for free cards! Then the White rare Bear with vigilance and heroic and then taps with no mana to pull one off for cards! Love that with stuff here and there.
There we go! Decklist time!
