Hello happiest of folks I hope your day is going super mega well! Today I wanted to knock out my favorite Clones for dialing it up against multiple people like Commander and generally. Today we are looking at actual proper Clones and not copy effects like Rite of Replication that makes tokens that are copied since they are better since they can be reanimated, blinked or bounced for recopying another dork or getting another ETB trigger.

Honorable Mention

Glasspool Mimic // Glasspool Shore

This modal spell land is a three-mana dork that ETBs as a copy of just your dorks not your foes, and it's a Shapeshifter and Rogue too. And then it can be dropped as a land too, just swap out a land for it.

Undercover Operative

This four-mana Clone can ETB as an ability and copy anything your foe's stuff or yours too, but it also arrives with a shield counter to protect it from removal if you copied your thing which you often want to do anyway since they are in your deck anyway.

Malleable Impostor AND Mocking Doppelganger

Next up are these flashing four-drops with the ability to only copy opposing stuff but they add a trick. The Faerie has flying and the normal one gives the other stuff goaded. That's an amazing combat trick to copy something when attacked by your foes and then block and the Faerie to copy an opposing ground pounder like Avenger of Zendikar and then block a flyer that comes your way out of nowhere and kill it and keep your flyer is nasty.

Phyrexian Metamorph

This three- or four-drop artifact dork copies any dork or artifact on the battlefield but it becomes an artifact too. Since it's both potentially cheaper and then also has a wider range of copy options it's here higher in my honorable mentions.

Callidus Assassin

This six-mana Dimir 3/3 flash Clone is next! But when it ETBs you'll destroy what you copied, but that's an up too, so you don't have too, but tacking Clone to Nekrataal seems strong.

#5. Vesuvan Doppelganger

Top five time with this five-drop Clone that stays Blue and then in your upkeep can swap what it copies all up and down the block for free for better stuff. When out it can be a bit of a chilling effect as people may not drop things you'll move to and beat them with before they swing.

#4. Clever Impersonator

This four-drop Clone variant will copy anything on arrival save lands. There are no restrictions there like you only or opponents, everyone's stuff is eligible! For the same cost as a Clone, you are getting the best slate of targets here, so this is great to run! This is my favorite base Clone with no frills.

#3. Sakashima of a Thousand Faces

This Commander-able legendary dork with the ability to ETB as a copy of your dorks only and then turn off the legendary rule and then count as it's other abilities. It's also got partner to pair it with in the Command Zone, nasty. Love it much! But, you can only copy you stuff and dorks, so a limited window and generally I prefer the previous one's flexibility but this is more powerful.

#2. Spark Double

Ah yes, everyone's favorite Clone effect for Commander since they can drop it, copy thier dork or planeswalker and then it's not legendary and gets bigger if the first and has more loyalty if the second. Then it can copy your Commander and that works, hence it's everyone's favorite Clone there, but...not mine!

#1. Stunt Double AND Waxen Shapethief

This four-cost duo is next with the flashing again, but you can copy your stuff too with the Double as well as theirs and with the Shapethief you can add cycling and copy your stuff only but an artifact too so great there. These are a brilliant EOT play too and then untap and swing on yours with that turn of play. Love them much!
