The rules managers at Wizards of the Coast are making a change to the functionality of Split Cards and cards with Aftermath. In the past these cards would have a total converted mana cost equal to the sum of the two casting costs for cards like Dark Confidant. However using cards like the Expertise cycle from Aether Revolt you could cast either half if one met the casting cost restriction. After Amonkhet that will no longer be the case.
