Reddit

Wizards of the Coast is changing how products are announced. According to an article released today, products will be announced twice a year. Today marked the spring announcement and the fall announcement will follow in September.

The six products announced today appeal to casual and competitive fans of Magic. More information on each release can be found at the linked pages.

Kaledesh is this fall's large set. The set will debut at PAX Prime on September 2nd and have its official release on September 30th. Prereleases will take place the weekend of September 24th and the set will be released on Magic Online on October 7th. Discuss Kaladesh on Twitter with #MTGKLD.

Aether Revolt is set 2 of 2 in the Kaledesh Block. With a Prerelease on January 14, 2017, a release on January 20, 2017, and a Magic Online debut on January 27, it can be discussed on Twitter with #MTGAER.

There are two multiplayer focused sets coming our way. The first is the highly anticipated >Commander (2016 Edition) coming to stores November 11th. Featuring the long awaited four-color legendary creatures this release can be discussed on #MTGC16. Planechase Anthology (#MTGPCA) will feature four decks from Planechase (2012) edition and all 86 Planar Cards. Planechase Anthology will release on November 25th.

Duel Decks: Nissa vs. Ob Nixilis is the latest in the line of Duel Decks. It will hit shelves on September 2. #MTGNVO.

Finally in a separate article, Mark Rosewater discussed the new introductory product promised when two-set blocks were announced. Starting with Kaladesh, every set will have two associated Planeswalker Decks. These decks will feature a new Planeswalker card relevant to the story and a host of cards designed to support said Planeswalker. These products will replace the Intro Decks. These cards will be legal in Standard.

In the article Rosewater also announced that Fat Packs are being renamed Bundles, so expect the Kaladesh Bundle this fall.

Update: The original announcement omitted the fact that Conspiracy - Take the Crown will be sold in North American mass market stores in Draft Packs containing three boosters.

A separate announcement later in the day announced that The Art of Magic: The Gathering: Kaladesh, written by James Wyatt, will arrive in early 2017.
