The Most Exciting Green Cards in Edge of Eternities

Reddit

Welcome back to part five of our exciting Edge of Eternities picks. I'm going to be talking about all the colors in Edge of Eternities, so be sure to check out the previous colors by clicking on my byline above.

Today we're continuing with the Green cards that caught my eye. I usually try and select around eight cards for lists like this, but as with the previous colors, I may err on the side of shorter descriptions while cramming in more cards if the selection warrants it.

Let's begin!

Close Encounter

Close Encounter

This is an interesting "bite" card if for no other reason than because you can choose a warped card you own in exile to deal the damage with. Certain "bite" cards can typically see some amount of play, depending on their speed and their cost. This being an instant for two mana that also gives you more range as to where the damage can come from bodes well for it.

Famished Worldsire

Famished Worldsire

I don't know, man. When this guy enters, I would just sacrifice all eight lands, put 24 counters on it, then hope to hit a buttload of lands in my top 24 cards. That seems like a crazy plan. If you hit an average of one land in every three top cards, you're going to break even. Anything above that and you're coming out ahead.

While the Worldsire doesn't have trample or any other form of evasion, it should be large enough that you can kill anything that crosses its path, and the land ability should be what you're using this for, with things like Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle or Field of the Dead.

Frenzied Baloth

Frenzied Baloth

This is a solid gentleman. Green loves it's 3/2s for two, and the Baloth has a lot of great stats to support that casting cost. Can't counter this, can't counter other creatures, can't prevent damage. What can you do?! You can attack the turn it comes into play and trample over anything in your path. This is basically a two-mana Questing Beast.

Icetill Explorer

Icetill Explorer

Every time a Green creature lets you play an extra land per turn, or play lands from the top of your library, it's going to be a 2/4. The Icetill Explorer is no exception. While the Explorer doesn't let you play lands from the top, it does let you play them from the graveyard, all while milling you for each land played, so as to get more lands into the graveyard! There's a reason this guy is preselling for around $20.

Ouroboroid

Ouroboroid

Considering Bristly Bill, Spine Sower has shot up in price to like $70, it doesn't surprise me at all that this 1/3 for four mana is preselling for $20-$30. It does nothing for me personally, but I know Commander players will likely love it. Is that right? Do you Commander players love this guy? I can't imagine this four-drop is pushing $30 because of formats like Standard or Modern.

On the other hand, this guy does get exponentially larger each turn, because it puts counters on itself. So the first combat it becomes a 2/4. Then it becomes a 4/6. Then it becomes an 8/10, etc. And all of your other creatures are coming along for the ride! I don't know, maybe I just convinced myself?

Pull Through the Weft

Pull Through the Weft

Not a crazy bomb by any means, but this is four cards worth of value for five mana, which is pretty good. Ramping from five lands to seven lands is also pretty decent, especially if doing so is going to trigger your landfall abilities in the process. You just have to find a way to get at least two lands into your graveyard.

Sami's Curiosity

Sami's Curiosity

Now this is a solid common. This is the kind of card you want on turn one every single game, so as to allow you to cast literal Rampant Growth on turn two. If you recall, Rampant Growth is a card that was deemed a little too powerful for Standard formats, which is why we actually get Sami's Curiosity instead, ensuring that if you draw it a turn too late, you'll have to pay the price for it. Just like Attune with Aether before it, draw Sami's Curiosity on turn one and you'll be just fine.

Sledge-Class Seedship

Sledge-Class Seedship

The Green card that lets you put a creature from your hand into play for free is a common trope. Sometimes it's a four-mana 1/1 creature. Sometimes it's an artifact. Now it's a Spacecraft. The only thing I find myself disliking about Spacecrafts is that you cast them, and they do nothing. They are incredibly bad topdecks.

Bad qualities aside, the Seedship seems pretty decent. It only takes seven power to station it (I keep wanting to say "crew"), which is reasonable, and for your effort, you get a 4/5 flier that can put any creature from your hand onto the battlefield for free. I'm a sucker for sneaking big creatures into play. Not sure if this will be a reliable way to do so, but it seems worth looking at!

Anyway, thanks for reading and I'll catch ya next time!
