Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro today announced the launch of a new franchise entitled Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters. Based on the existing Duel Masters brand, Kaijudo will feature an online game, trading card game, and a television series to air in the U.S. on The Hub TV network.

The story of Kaijudo concerns a young hero, Ray, who possesses the rare ability to befriend and duel alongside fantastical creatures from a parallel dimension. It’s up to Ray to master the ancient art of Kaijudo in order to protect both worlds.

The Duel Masters TCG is quite popular with preteen boys in Japan, as the game has millions of players since its creation 10 years ago.
