Bant is the color trio of balance (or imbalance, depending on your experience with Bant in your own playgroup), growth, wisdom, and a little too much card draw. While other shards chase chaos or cruelty, Bant calmly out-values the table with ramp, protection, and creatures that "just happen" to draw six cards upon entering the battlefield.
Here we have a list of the five best commanders that represent Bant. So get ready to read about enchantress queens, blink engines, and... a political rabbit?
5. Tuvasa the Sunlit
The face of Bant enchantress, Tuvasa the Sunlit, is simplicity perfected. She rewards you for doing exactly what an enchantment player wants: building a fortress of enchantments, drawing a truckload of cards every turn, and eventually knocking someone out with commander damage while still looking pretty about it.
And, if you don't know, Bant has ALL the best enchantments: Enchantress's Presence, Setessan Champion, and Eidolon of Blossoms being among the cream of the crop. Tuvasa ties them together with scaling power and built-in card draw. One aura at a time, you become an unstoppable force wrapped in glittering protection.
Key Cards
- Ethereal Armor - Turns every enchantment into damage potential.
- Sythis, Harvest's Hand - Draw + life gain engine. Sythis is Tuvasa's bestie.
- Greater Auramancy - Keeps your pillow fort safe from removal.
- Impostor Syndrome - A card that can get you insane value as Tuvasa connects.
4. Galadriel, Light of Valinor
Straight out of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, Galadriel brings the grace and power of Lothlorien to Commander. Her Alliance ability grants ramp, card draw, or +1/+1 counters every time another creature enters the battlefield under your control - a flexible value machine that rewards go-wide decks and creature ETB chains alike.
She plays beautifully with token decks, blink decks, or even mana dorks. You can tailor your triggers for whatever your board needs... whether it is more mana, more power, or more cards. Few commanders make your battlefield hum with synergy the way Galadriel does.
Key Cards
- Galadriel's Dismissal - on theme and can be kicked to trigger all of Alliance's effects
- Parallel Lives - Double the creatures, double the triggers.
- Rishkar, Peema Renegade - Turns all those +1/+1 counters into mana.
- Eldrazi Displacer - Blink creatures to repeatedly trigger Galadriel.
- Beast Whisperer - Get value from casting creatures too!
3. Ms. Bumbleflower
She might look like she belongs on a tea set, but don't be fooled - Ms. Bumbleflower is one of the most deceptively political commanders in the format. She's a masterclass in table dynamics: every spell you cast lets opponents draw cards while rewarding you with counters, evasion, and eventually, your own card draw.
Little ol' Ms. Bumbleflower shines in social pods that love table talk and gentle chaos. By "helping" others draw cards, you lull the table into thinking you're harmless... right until your 9/9 flying Rabbit Citizen starts one-shotting people.
Key Cards
- Kwain, Itinerant Meddler - Another rabbit that goes hard into being generous.
- Tempt with Discovery - A staple in political decks in Green. Everyone gets land... but you get more.
- Fertilid - Plays perfectly into the counter theme while fixing mana...you can also GIVE someone a land to curry political favor.
- Unbound Flourishing - If you're running a +1/+1 / spell hybrid build, this card makes everything explode in value.
2. Chulane, Teller of Tales
The storyteller who broke Commander for a while. Chulane turns every creature into "draw a card, ramp a land" and then lets you bounce them for more. It's easy to see why this druid became infamous: he's a self-contained engine that wins without ever running out of gas.
Chulane, Teller of Tales is the perfect commander if you like playing blink, combo, or creature storm, as he ensures you never miss a beat. Add Aluren and Whitemane Lion, and you've got infinite draws, infinite land drops, and infinite table groans.
Key Cards
- Tatyova, Benthic Druid - a mean piece to the Chulane-engine.
- Aluren - Free creature casting equals infinite loops.
- Cloudstone Curio - Bounce shenanigans on tap.
- Guardian Project - Draw all the cards!
1. Derevi, Empyrial Tactician
Bant's ultimate control piece and the biggest rule-breaker of them all. Derevi, Empyrial Tactician doesn't cast from the command zone. She enters the battlefield straight from the command zone. That means she sidesteps commander tax entirely. Combine that with tap-untap triggers and you've got a machine that controls tempo, locks resources, and wins wars of attrition.
Derevi is all about efficiency. She untaps mana, taps down blockers, and breaks parity under Stasis or Winter Orb. Once you've piloted her, it's hard to go back to playing fair.
Key Cards
- Stasis - The classic lock piece. Derevi keeps you functional while everyone else suffers.
- Seedborn Muse - Untap everything, every turn. (R.I.P. to Prophet of Kruphix, Derevi remembers you fondly to this day.)
- Verity Circle - Get a card from Derevi tapping down a creature.
- Delney, Streetwise Lookout - Makes Derevi (and other smaller weenies) unblockable.
Bant-astic Thoughts
Bant doesn't shout, it outvalues the competition. Bant decks remind the table that kindness and card draw can be equally lethal. These commanders exemplify the colors' philosophy: patience, protection, and inevitability. If you haven't sleeved up one of the commanders above, what are you waiting for?
