Weekly Sale Commander: Out of this World Sale!

Reddit

Hi folks! Welcome to the Weekly Sale Column! This column, as always, is aimed at showing you some cards on sale that could give you some new ideas for your lists. These lists will *usually* be Commander lists in Bracket 3, so you'll be able to play these in any Bracket 3 (or higher) pods. If you want to play in lower pods, just swap out the Game Changers for other choices, and/or add more Game Changers along with some other competitive combos if you want to compete with Bracket 4 and 5 pods! Keep in mind that the game changers in your deck aren't the only thing that moves you up and down a bracket. Your intent with your deck, inclusions of other interactions, engines, and combos, and overall playgroup are also be factors! Remember that the weekly sale ends on Sunday night at 11:59 PM EST, so you have until then to get your cards ordered!

Zhulodok, Void Gorger

Today's list is one of my more exciting lists, because I'm using a personal deck that I regularly play! The Out of this World sale is all about Eldrazi, and I have a colorless Zhulodok, Void Gorger list I've been fine-tuning since the card was printed back in 2023! When the brackets were released last year, I updated my list to fit nicely into bracket 3, so it fits perfectly for this week's sale. Zhulodok, Void Gorger is a 6-mana 7/4 Eldrazi with one of the strongest abilities printed for colorless. As long as it's in play, when you cast a colorless spell with mana value 7 or greater, you get to double cascade! Thankfully, almost all the relevant Eldrazi cost 7 or more, so they're all in here, and we play a few other spells that benefit from casting colorless spells. Combined, this will make our board snowball and snowball into an unstoppable monster. Let's get into it!

Flying Spaghetti Monsters

Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
Emrakul, the Promised End

Let's start with the big baddies. I created this list with the lofty goal of having almost every single Legendary Eldrazi worth playing. We start with the card-drawing king, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, and then throw in Kozilek, the Great Distortion to make sure that have ways to refill our hand after ramping up to cast our big colorless spells. Next, the hungry monster, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre is joined by Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger to control the board by taking down any permanent. Ulamog, the Defiler takes that a step further and just exiles libraries, removing threats before they even hit the board! Finally, the moon queen herself, Emrakul, the Promised End is the only Emrakul in the list, but she plays a mean trick by taking control of an opponent during their next turn!

Beyond the big legendary Eldrazi, there are a few others worth playing, at least until something better gets printed! It That Betrays makes it so that our opponents don't want to sacrifice permanents, but they have to anyway from all of our Annihilator triggers. Fair warning, Annihilator is one of the harshest mechanics printed, and your friends will be salty when you beat them with it (but that's a them problem, not a you problem). Void Winnower makes it so your opponents literally can't even (go look up the official Gatherer ruling on this, you'll chuckle), and Devourer of Destiny is like a baby Ulamog that can also help our first draw(most of the time, it's just fodder for Ugin's Labyrinth, though). Sire of Seven Deaths is one of the coolest Eldrazi printed with its constant references to the number 7. Oblivion Sower can steal lands. Endbringer gives you some more limited card draw and board control. Anticausal Vestige (the deck's newest Eldrazi) is actually just a ramp spell that is discounted by Eye of Ugin! It That Heralds the End makes our spells cheaper and Matter Reshaper is one of the most efficient creatures for its cost. Finally, the literal best card in the deck, Glaring Fleshraker makes tokens and pings our opponents whenever we cast colorless spells. This card ends up as my win condition more often than not, and once you play it, you'll see why!

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

Metalwork Colossus
Darksteel Monolith
Planetarium of Wan Shi Tong

Even the Eldrazi need their support, so let's get into the non-Eldrazi! To start, we've got our insane free spells. Seriously, WotC needs to stop giving me free colorless spells, it's getting hard finding space. Metalwork Colossus gets cast and recast so fast in this deck, you'll wish you had more than one. Excalibur, Sword of Eden will never get cast for 12, if you do, you're a sucker. Darksteel Monolith itself will double cascade, and then give you a free spell to run it back each turn. Planetarium of Wan Shi Tong will also give you free spells, just once each turn, but combine it with Unwinding Clock and you'll have some awesome turn cycles.

Summon: Bahamut
The Walls of Ba Sing Se
Rise of the Eldrazi

Next, we have some more big baddies. Summon: Bahamut is like if Ulamog and Kozilek had a baby dragon and then pushed that baby into the Final Fantasy universe in as many titles as possible (even the ones that came out well before those cards were printed!). It destroys, it draws, and then it slaps; play the dang dragon! Bygone Colossus will let you double cascade for 9, but by only paying 3-mana to do it (alternate costs are neat!). The Walls of Ba Sing Se and Platinum Angel give you some protection that can be nice to have in a deck with some relative vulnerability. The Endstone, Ingenuity Engine, and Echoes of Eternity give you some insane card advantage. Echoes of Eternity is the reason that Glaring Fleshraker is a viable win condition! All is Dust, Kozilek's Command, and Eldrazi Confluence can control the board, and Rise of the Eldrazi (the card, not the set) does literally everything you can think of, and then some.

Karn Liberated
Ugin, the Ineffable
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon

It wouldn't be a colorless deck without a bunch of planeswalkers! First, we have Karn Liberated, the only Karn that I want to play (currently). I've yet to use his ultimate outside of 60-card formats, but a man can dream. We also play every single Ugin printed! Ugin, the Ineffable gives us card draw and makes our spells cheaper. Ugin, Eye of the Storms, the newest addition to the planeswalkers, just does absolutely nutty things while we're cascading. Finally, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon has so much utility packed into each ability, from shooting Ghostfires to exiling all my opponents' pesky permanent with colors!

Mana

Let's talk Mana. Colorless decks are notorious for the most rigorous mana bases. On the nonland side, we've got rocks on rocks on rocks. Sol Ring, Mind Stone, and Thought Vessel bring up the low end and Worn Powerstone, Hedron Archive, and Thran Dynamo bring up the higher end. Urza's Incubator (currently testing it out, I think I'll like it!) will make our Eldrazi cheaper, and Forsaken Monument + Ultima, Origin of Oblivion are our mana doublers. I used to have Basalt Monolith before the bracket system, add it if you want, but it's an early two card combo with Forsaken Monument, so it pushes you into bracket 4.

Urza's Incubator
Ultima, Origin of Oblivion
Planar Nexus

In our lands, we have all of the Urza lands, including Urza's Power Plant, Urza's Mine, Urza's Tower, along with Urza's Workshop, Urza's Factory, Urza's Saga, and Urza's Cave! I also play all of the posts, because Cloudpost, Glimmerpost, and the somewhat recently printed Trenchpost all work quite well together! All of these lands pale in comparison to the best colorless land printed though, Planar Nexus. With Planar Nexus, all of our tron-lands turn on, our posts have an extra Locus, and Lazotep Quarry has an extra Desert if I need it. It's my number one target with Expedition Map, and it should be yours too.

Change the Game!

The One Ring
Ancient Tomb
Field of the Dead

For my game changers, I've opted for The One Ring, Ancient Tomb, and Field of the Dead! The One Ring has so much utility between its card draw and the protection it provides, along with being a regular cascade hit due to its cost. Ancient Tomb is the second best ramp land I'd want in here, I just don't own a Mishra's Workshop and don't plan on it anytime soon, but try it out if you do! Field of the Dead is basically free in any deck with a low basic count, and since our game changers options are limited, I opted for it! Cards like Grim Monolith and Mana Vault are also viable options as well, as ramp is always good in these decks. As I mentioned before, you can beef up your bracket level by including Basalt Monolith, as it combos with so many cards like Forsaken Monument or even Rings of Brighthearth if you include that. Other fast mana options are good too, like Mox Diamond, although Chrome Mox isn't good since it won't ever make you any mana.

Here's my list, try it out! This is one of the few lists that I regularly update, so feel free to reach out to me on socials if you have any feedback or requests for future lists! I'm mattynewns on just about all of the platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, Discord), so drop me a line if you've got something to say!
