Weekly Sale Commander: Warp Speed!

Reddit

Hi folks! Welcome to the Weekly Sale Column! This column will be aimed at showing you some cards on sale that could give you some new ideas for your lists. They will *usually* be Commander lists in Bracket 3 as well so you'll be able to play these in any Bracket 3 (or higher) pods. If you want to play in lower pods, just swap out the Game Changers for other choices and/or add more along with some other competitive combos if you want to compete with Bracket 4 and 5 pods! Remember that the weekly sale ends on Sunday night at 11:59 PM EST, so you have until then to get your cards ordered!

Today we bring you a delightfully fast deck from the Warp Speed Sale, led by the Prerelease Commander-Exclusive duo of Goro-Goro and Satoru, giving you ample reason to say GG's at the end of a game after you win! This great Goblin Human duo has an ability that creates a 5/5 Flying Dragon each time that one or more of your creatures deal combat damage to a player! They can also give all your creatures haste for 2, giving some insight into one of the best ways to trigger Goro-Goro and Satoru! There are more ways to trigger GGS here, but we'll get into those soon! Let's get into it!

"I Wanna Go Fast"

Goro-Goro and Satoru

Ricky Bobby may not have been as fast as you can get at warp speed, but fast is the name of the game in this sale, and deck! We want creatures with haste or ways to give our creatures haste! Anger is one of the best ways to give all your creatures haste since you just need a Mountain and it to be in the yard. Enduring Courage and Tannuk, Steadfast Second are similarly costed, but have other benefits like letting you actually use Warp with Tannuk, or the buff that Enduring Courage gives! Apprentice Necromancer and Jaxis, the Troublemaker help you give your creatures haste for a one time use, which is nice when upgrading them into a 5/5 flyer would be beneficial.

Shadow the Hedgehog
Jaxis, the Troublemaker

Urabrask the Hidden has the upside of making your opponent's battlefields clear to their life totals, and Cursed Mirror and Urabrask's Forge are cheeky little artifacts with haste printed in the best way on the card for this list, giving us more creature to attack with and future mana for other cards! We also play one quite new way to have a payoff for creatures with haste with Shadow the Hedgehog! Shadow is good with cards like Urabrask's Forge or Fable of the Mirror-Breaker // Reflection of Kiki-Jiki that prompt you to sacrifice creatures with haste at end of turn, filling your hand up for each creature with Shadow.

On top of actual directly printed haste, there's another way that creatures can have haste. When a creature comes in off of suspend, they automatically have haste! Because of that, we also play 4 great creature cards with suspend! Detritivore will come in handy against pesky non-basic lands like Cabal Coffers or Glacial Chasm, Aeon Chronicler will give you great card advantage, Deep Sea Kraken is one big boi that will guarantee the Dragon token since it can't be blocked, and Greater Gargadon is an early sacrifice outlet you can use to get good benefit from tokens that are already going to die, enabling Shadow well!

"I'm not gonna run away, I never go back on my word! That's my nindo!"

If you know the quote, then you'll know this next section quite well!

There's another great way to trigger Goro-Goro and Satoru, and that's with creatures that come into play already attacking! The main way we'll get that is with Ninjutsu, which makes sense considering that Satoru Umezawa (in this deck, funnily enough) is a ninja! Thousand-Faced Shadow will make more copies of attacking creatures, Moon-Circuit Hacker gives you some card advantage, and Mistblade Shinobi will bounce pesky creatures to their owners' hands! Ninja of the Deep Hours is my personal favorite of all of Magic's ninjas, Ingenious Infiltrator is in that same family, Sakashima's Student is a useful clone, and Silent-Blade Oni lets you yoink cards straight from your opponent's hands!

Satoru Umezawa
Ingenious Infiltrator
Blade of Selves

On top of Ninjutsu, Myriad is also a mechanic that creates attacking creatures, so we like that here as well. Blade of Selves gives any one creature Myriad, Goldlust Triad is a Dragon that will give you treasures for future cards, and Corporeal Projection can give one or all of your creatures myriad for one turn!

Change the Game!

As usual, we have 3 game changers in this deck! Our first is the only one with Ninjutusu, Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow! Yuriko still works from the hand, not just the command zone, so she'll give us the extra card advantage and damage dealing we want from a 2-cost Ninjutsu! Cyclonic Rift will help us clear the way in the early game for a quick 5/5 or in the late game for a big swing. Finally, Fierce Guardianship is a useful way to protect your commander once they're in play from pesky removal like Swords to Plowshares or even something as simple as a Murder! We want to be attacking, so having that protection is important.

Here's the list, happy swinging!
