Ever since Avatar Aang // Aang, Master of Elements was first spoiled, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to create Duel Decks with him and Ozai. For those that don't know (spoilers ahead), Avatar: the Last Airbender culminates in a 4-episode finale that revolves around the arrival of a comet passing by the Earth. This comet, dubbed Sozin's Comet, gives firebenders unimaginable strength in bending, in the same vein of the Full Moon giving Waterbenders great power or the Day of Black Sun removing the bending from firebenders. I've created two decks, one for Avatar Aang // Aang, Master of Elements and one for Ozai, the Phoenix King that illustrates these episodes! We'll return to the weekly sale lists, don't worry.
A few quick bracket-related caveats! These decks, while themed and would be more likely to be Bracket 2, are actually in Bracket 3 due to the addition of game changers! Those aren't the only reason that a deck would be in 3, but these can easily be dropped down to 2 just by swapping those out for other cards!
Here are the lists, feel free to follow along! I recommend watching these episodes whether you've seen them or not, they are PHENOMENAL.

Let's begin our episodes!
Part 1: The Phoenix King
Aang:
The episode starts with Aang immediately saying that he doesn't want to fight Ozai yet, as he needs to master firebending first. Zuko hits him with a "naw bro, bad move" because he recently learned that Ozai is gonna raze the entire Earth Kingdom using the comet's power, illustrated amazingly in the art of Sozin's Comet. At that point, they decide that they should train and Toph, Earthbending Master, becomes Melon Lord! The gang tells Aang he needs to kill Ozai, but Aang is struggling because he was an Air Nomad before he became the Avatar, making him a pacifist. Aang eventually sleeps that day, and during a sleepwalking session with Momo, he finds himself on a certain island (possibly not an island after all, maybe The Lion-Turtle!)
Ozai:
Meanwhile, over at the Fire Nation Palace, (current) Fire Lord Ozai has been planning for the Earth Kingdom invasion with his daughter and Zuko's maniacal sister, Azula, Ruthless Firebender. He tells her that she will be the next Fire Lord and ruler of the Fire Nation, while he shall rule the world as Ozai, the Phoenix King!
Part 2: The Old Masters
Aang:
Aang is still struggling with having to kill Ozai, so he calls on his past lives for guidance, each one telling their story illustrated well with their respective sagas: The Legend of Roku, The Legend of Kyoshi, The Legend of Kuruk, and The Legend of Yangchen. Each one tells him that he will have to kill Ozai, including even Yangchen, a fellow Air Nomad. Aang eventually receives some knowledge from the Lion-Turtle (if you know you know) and arrives at the Earth Kingdom just in time for Ozai and the airship fleet to arrive.
The rest of Team Avatar:
Meanwhile, Zuko, Katara, Toph, Suki, and Sokka all travel on Appa, Steadfast Guardian to go find Aang somewhere, but can't seem to find him anywhere in the world. They track down June, a former hunter with a cool mole horse thing called a Shirshu. Turns out, magical Lion-Turtles know more than even a hunting Shirshu, and eventually they have to ask June to instead track down Zuko's uncle, Iroh, Dragon of the West, as the only other person who can defeat Ozai. They eventually find them, along with the rest of the White Lotus members from throughout the series, such as Sokka's new grandfather, Master Pakku, and his old sword master, Piandao. After plenty of tearful reunions and wise words from the Old Masters, they all decide to split up. Katara and Zuko will face Azula at the Fire Nation Palace, Toph, Sokka, and Suki will take on the fleet of Fire Nation Ships, and the White Lotus members will liberate Ba Sing Se from the Fire Nation once more, led by Iroh.
Part 3: Into the Inferno
Team Avatar:
The team arrives at the Fire Nation Palace right as Azula starts losing her marbles. Sokka, Suki, and Toph all jump on an airship, and start taking on the rest of the ships using Sokka's wit, Suki's ability to 1v5 anything, and the fact that Toph, the First Metalbender literally just exists on their team. Zuko and Katara confront Azula, only for her to challenge her brother to The Last Agni Kai, a firebending duel. Through some of the most insane visuals this show had to offer, Zuko gains the upper hand on Azula, until she decides to get tricky and aim some lightning at Katara. Zuko, being a good guy now, takes the hit and gets wounded pretty badly.
The White Lotus:
The White Lotus, not to be confused with Magic's Black Lotus, arrives at the The Walls of Ba Sing Se. Iroh, Grand Lotus himself, while on a rock bent by Bumi, Unleashed, makes a fireball that breaches Ba Sing Se's wall in an instant. You know, that wall that took two episodes for a giant Fire Nation Drill to get through, and didn't even make it all the way through because Azula couldn't beat Aang and the gang? Yep, that one. That's how strong Sozin's Comet makes firebenders. At this point, firebenders are now all at max strength, to the point where they can fly. Jeong-Jeong, the Deserter, Bumi, Unleashed, Master Pakku, and Master Piandao all demolish the Fire Nation Occupation in Ba Sing Se (while Iroh has a little heartfelt moment at the flag), and Ba Sing Se stands strong once again without the Fire Nation!
Aang vs Ozai:
It begins! Aang and Ozai finally begin their battle. It's clear that Ozai is immensely powerful. Even with all 4 elements at his side, Aang is struggling in the fight because he can't even Enter the Avatar State. Unfortunately, he closed up his chakras back toward the end of Book 2 with Guru Pathik (as seen on the Commander Bundle art for Mystical Tutor) because he couldn't Abandon Attachments. Guru Pathik told him he needs to learn to let Katara go (he loves her of course) if he wants the pure cosmic energy from the universe to flow. Back at the fight, Ozai starts shooting lightning at Aang and eventually he has a chance to Redirect Lightning, but he chooses not to, once again letting his pacifist side win. Ozai now unleashes a Torment of Hailfire (as seen on the secret lair art for Torment of Hailfire) on Aang as he takes refuge inside of a ball of earth.
Part 4: Avatar Aang
Katara vs. Azula:
Azula, continuing her maniacal laughter while trying to kill Katara, eventually gets caught off-guard for Katara to use the water below them to freeze them both. Then, through another cool breathing scene, she wraps chains around her hands and binds her to the grate below, making her the victor. Azula then fully loses it and breaks down completely.
Aang vs. Ozai:
Meanwhile, Ozai hits Aang hard enough to force a rock behind him to pierce his wound. That wound, where Azula shot Aang, at the Crossroads, was blocking his chakras and by piercing it, Ozai inadvertently unlocked Aang's true power with the Avatar state, unleashing Avatar's Wrath on Ozai. Aang, at this point, just demolishes Ozai, and still doesn't kill him, to the surprise and disgust of Ozai, who then goes in for another attack. Through a really cool Seismic Sense scene, Aang immobilizes Ozai in the ground and uses his newfound knowledge from the Lion-Turtle, Energybending, to bend the energy within Ozai and remove his firebending (also seen in the Avatar art for Force of Negation). Basically, he won the war without killing Ozai!
Post-Victory:
Mai and Zuko are back together, and all of our friends are hanging out at the Jasmine Dragon Tea Shop, Iroh's business back in Ba Sing Se! Zuko eventually asks Ozai in prison where his mother is. Ty Lee, the third of the ex-trio of herself, Azula, and Mai, teaches the Kyoshi warriors how to Chi-Block and gets to join them! Finally, Aang and Katara enjoy their well-earned peace and finally embrace and kiss!
If you haven't watched Avatar: the Last Airbender, I highly recommend it. It's a phenomenal choice for a Universes Beyond set, and I plan on slinging Avatar spells forever, myself!
Thanks for reading, see you later for the next Weekly Sale!
