Weekly Sale Commander: New Year?s Sale!

Reddit

Hi folks! Welcome to the Weekly Sale Column! This column will be aimed at showing you some cards on sale that could give you some new ideas for your lists. They will *usually* be Commander lists in Bracket 3 as well so you'll be able to play these in any Bracket 3 (or higher) pods. If you want to play in lower pods, just swap out the Game Changers for other choices and/or add more along with some other competitive combos if you want to compete with Bracket 4 and 5 pods! Keep in mind that the game changers in your deck aren't the only thing that moves you up and down a bracket. Your intent with your deck; inclusions of other interactions, engines, and combos, and overall playgroup should also be factors in your bracket! Remember that the weekly sale ends on Sunday night at 11:59 PM EST, so you have until then to get your cards ordered!

2025 has been a whirlwind of a year for Magic. From Universes Beyond sets like Final Fantasy and Avatar: The Last Airbender, to doing things like driving cars with Aetherdrift and piloting spacecraft in Edge of Eternities, we got some of the most exciting cards I've seen in a long time for Commander. Today's deck is going to highlight the entire year! The New Year's Sale focuses on singles in 2025, and I took that a step further with our list and have made it so every single card here was printed or reprinted in 2025, including Secret Lairs, Special Guests, and Promos. I did most of my card searching using some useful Scryfall syntax. Year equals 2025 is the base for all of my searches, and then you can filter from there with options like is:permanent and c is greater than 1 to look at multicolored permanents. If you just want to see the new cards from this year, you can add -is:reprint, and you'll see cards that aren't reprints as well!

Infinite Guideline Station

Our deck is a 5-color list with the Infinite Guideline Station as our Commander! The Infinite Guideline Station is a 5-color Spacecraft that makes a tapped 2/2 Robot artifact creature token for each multicolored permanent you control, when it enters. Since it's a Spacecraft, it also has the Station ability, and when we have 12 charge counters on it, it becomes a 7/15 with Flying and a great attack trigger, having us draw a card for each multicolored permanent we control! This reminds me of Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact and Niv-Mizzet, Reborn, but instead of focusing on two color cards, we get to just have any multicolored permanent! This is great for all the 3-color cards that Tarkir: Dragonstorm gave us, along with a few other cards. Let's get into it!

Mana... in Space!

Let's talk mana first. This is a 5-color list, and since we're locking ourselves to 2025, we have a limited pool to play with. To start, we've got the shocklands in Edge of Eternities (Breeding Pool, Stomping Ground, etc.), along with two of each basic land. These are our only lands with land types, but that's okay, because we also get the enemy color fetches that were Special Guests in TDM, so we essentially have 20 sources of lands with land types. To play off of those, we get all of the allied color Buddy Land cycle (Glacial Fortress, Sulfur Falls, etc.) and we also get the enemy color Verge cycle from Aetherdrift (Riverpyre Verge, Wastewood Verge, etc.). After that, we just want a few 5-color lands to help round us out. Final Fantasy gave us City of Brass in the form of a Store Championship promo and also Starting Town, Exotic Orchard got a few reprints in Commander decks throughout the year, and Edge of Eternities: Stellar Sights gave us their best friend, Reflecting Pool! Add a Command Tower and a couple utility lands with Uthros, Titanic Godcore and Karn's Bastion, and we have a mana base! Don't worry, we'll talk about that Field of the Dead in a bit.

Starting Town
Uthros, Titanic Godcore
Great Divide Guide

Along with our lands, we'd like a sufficient amount of ramp. Birds of Paradise just got a wonderful holiday reprint, so that's a no brainer. Great Divide Guide, Hermitic Herbalist, and Sylvan Caryatid all make any color mana, with the Great Divide Guide also helping our lands. Faeburrow Elder has the benefit of making a lot of mana, depending on your permanents, and Ignis Scientia, Farseek, and Nature's Lore can give us some land ramp! Nature's Lore might be a bit greedy since we only play 4 total Forests, but either of the Green shocklands make most of our other lands come into play untapped, so I think it's worth it.

Permanents... in Space!

We only play 5 Instants and 4 Sorceries, which means that the other 90 cards of our deck are permanents. Of those, only 20 of them aren't multicolored nonlands, which means that we will almost always have more multicolored permanents than not, and that's where want to be with the Infinite Guideline Station. To start, both of the Commanders from the EOE Jeskai precon are worth playing here, with Kilo, Apogee Mind helping to proliferate charge counters when it gets tapped (like when we use it to Station a Spacecraft/Planet) and Inspirit, Flagship Vessel putting charge counters on artifacts early on while protecting them in the late game! The Mardu duo of Zurgo Stormrender and Bone-Cairn Butcher are going to make our Robot tokens so much better with the token-related abilities. Felothar the Steadfast will make our Commander hit for 15 instead of 7 and Yarok, the Desecrated will double our ETB triggers, including the trigger to make Robots!

Kilo, Apogee Mind
Sami, Wildcat Captain
Deadpool, Trading Card

Sami, Wildcat Captain makes having Spacecrafts and Robot tokens really nice for our other spells, and cards like Aang, Swift Savior, Severance Priest, and Azula, Cunning Usurper give us a little bit of control with our permanents! Deadpool, Trading Card is just a nice pet card of mine that finds its way into all of my decks that can play it, and Superior Spider-Man is great for our opponent's graveyards while also giving us what it gets rid of!

Moving on to some of our artifacts and enchantments, we have a cheeky little addition in Resourceful Defense. Our goal in this deck is to get this in play as fast as possible, so that we don't have to lose our charge counters! It also lets us move them for 4w, which can be useful with most of our artifacts. I have a Magical Christmas Land dream of using Robots to station a Spacecraft super high, and then moving those charge counters onto Fire Nation Turret so that I can start dealing 50 damage to players as fast as possible. If that's not possible, Lux Cannon will at least let me destroy something once a turn with enough counters.

Spacecrafts... you guessed it... in Space!

Exploration Broodship
Dawnsire, Sunstar Dreadnought
Biomechan Engineer

All of these charge counters and creatures are going to be great for all of the spacecraft in our deck. Exploration Broodship will let us have some recursion later in the game (with Conduit of Worlds letting us replay those lands we're sacrificing). Uthros Research Craft gives us a little bit of card draw, Warmaker Gunship is a removal spell, Dawnsire, Sunstar Dreadnought will terrify our opponents once it's fully stationed, and The Eternity Elevator will give us more colorless mana than we'll ever need, so we'll let Biomechan Engineer turn those into more cards and Robots.

Change the Game... in Space!

2025 saw tons of reprints for the game changers list. I already mentioned Field of the Dead, which got a nice reprint from the A to Z Encyclopedia Secret Lair. Crop Rotation also got reprinted there, which will be nice for some mana fixing, and Enlightened Tutor, courtesy of the Avatar: the Last Airbender Commander bundles, will help us find our Resourceful Defense! I almost opted for Seedborn Muse since we're going to be tapping our creatures often to Station, but I wanted the utility of the others more, feel free to play Seedborn Muse if you prefer! If you're looking to beef this up even more, the first thing to do is to step out of 2025. You can upgrade your mana and then add some other combo pieces! Time Sieve can combo with our Commander, if you have enough artifacts being created by the trigger that you'll repeat with the Brago, King Eternal already in the list!

Here's the list, see you all next year!
