Five White Decks for Dragonstorm Standard

Reddit

Hello everyone. We're just a couple of weeks away from the release of Magic: The Gathering - Final Fantasy, which gives me just enough time to finish my series of articles looking at Standard decks that are all focused around a specific color. I've got two articles left, and this week we'll be taking a look at decks that all feature White mana. Let's get started.

Mono-White Hare

We'll start things off with a Mono-White deck that's pretty easy to pilot. Let's take a look at the deck.

Hare Apparent

Hare Apparent

The main plan for this deck is to play creature after creature, building up a wide board, so you can attack and overwhelm your opponent. Hare Apparent is the perfect creature for this, as it can create a ton of additional 1/1 Rabbit creature tokens each time a new Hare Apparent enters the battlefield. The other creatures in this deck, Valley Questcaller and Hinterland Sanctifier, offer you the means to go big and to gain loads of extra life.

Giving your Rabbit forces a bit of a boost are a pair of helpful artifacts. With Patchwork Banner on the battlefield, your Rabbits will all gain a +1/+1 bonus. You'll also have an extra mana available, should you need it. Playing this early is generally advantageous. Later in the game, you'll want to play Banner of Kinship. You should be able to place a fair amount of fellowship counters on Banner of Kinship when it comes into play, providing a health boost to all of your creatures.

Azorius Aggro

Up next, I have an Azorius deck that can go big and wide simultaneously. Let's take a look at the deck.

Regal Bunnicorn

Regal Bunnicorn has been one of my favorite creatures for a while now. Its ability sets its power and toughness equal to the number of nonland permanents you control, giving you some direction on when to play it. Depending on what sort of creatures your opponent has in play will determine whether it will be best to attack or block with Regal Bunnicorn, giving you lots of flexibility with this Rabbit Unicorn.

In fact, in many ways, this deck is all about being flexible. With Floodpits Drowner, Enduring Curiosity, and Sunpearl Kirin all having flash, you'll often want to keep mana available to use during your opponent's turn to cast these creatures with. Luckily, there's a couple of copies of Spell Pierce and a copy of No More Lies that you can use that mana on to counter an opponent's spell, making it so they never know if you're holding mana open for a counterspell or a creature with flash.

Orzhov Drain

The next deck I have for you wants to drain your opponent's life total quickly. It also features a Demon sub-theme. Let's take a look at the deck.

Bloodletter of Aclazotz

While you have Bloodletter of Aclazotz on the battlefield, your opponent will lose life twice as quickly. Combat damage is considered losing life, so make sure you attack whenever possible. This ability also works with incidental life loss, like the life lost during your end step while you have a Demon in play and Unholy Annex on the battlefield.

Speaking of Demons, this deck has a fair amount of them. In addition to Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Ritual Chamber can create a 6/6 Demon creature token that has flying. Rot-Curse Rakshasa and Fiendish Panda are also Demons you can cast. The remaining creatures in this deck, Possessed Goat and Infernal Vessel, can become Demons under the correct conditions. That makes the life draining that Unholy Annex provides relatively simple to achieve.

Boros Equipment

We'll add some Red mana to our White next along with a whole lot of Equipment. Let's check out the Boros Equipment deck.

Astor, Bearer of Blades

Astor, Bearer of Blades allows you to search the top seven cards of your library when he enters the battlefield, looking for an equipment card to put into your hand. While he is on the battlefield, you'll be able to equip any equipment you have in play for a single mana. By doing this, you can assemble a massively overpowered creature that has a veritable cornucopia of keywords.

Basilisk Collar can provide both deathtouch and lifelink. Bladehold War-Whip provides double strike. Lavaspur Boots provides haste and ward 1. There's also Leyline Axe, which provides double strike and trample to the creature that has it equipped. Plus, there are other equipment cards in this deck that simply provide a bonus to power and toughness that you can employ. Build the ultimate warrior and triumph over your opponent.

Toxic Selesnya

The final deck I have for you seeks to defeat your opponent via poison counters. Let's take a look at the deck.

Surrak, Elusive Hunter

Every creature in this deck with the exception of Surrak, Elusive Hunter has toxic. This means that the majority of the time you attack, you'll have the potential to deal some amount of poison counters to your opponent. Your opponent will likely want to destroy your creatures with toxic, which makes Surrak, Elusive Hunter a great card to have in play. You'll be able to draw a fair number of extra cards if your opponent is relying on targeted removal spells to keep the battlefield clear.

A great partner to Surrak in this deck is Venerated Rotpriest. While this Phyrexian Druid is in play, any time you or your opponent targets one of your creatures with a spell, your opponent will receive a poison counter. This makes it possible for you to deal 10 poison counters to your opponent without ever attacking them.

Wrapping Up

With White being my second favorite color of mana in Magic, it should come as no surprise that I'm hoping to build each of these decks in Magic Arena. I can't decide whether I want to start with the Boros Equipment deck or the Toxic Selesnya deck first.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
