Three-Color Decks for Edge of Eternities Standard

Reddit

Hello everyone. While some people have complained that the mana in our current Standard environment isn't the best, others have found ways to make it work. This week, I'm back with a few more 3-color decks that you can use either for fun or for tournament play. Let's get started.

Jeskai Walkers

Starting things off this week is a Jeskai deck featuring four different planeswalkers. Let's begin by taking a look at the deck.

Ral, Crackling Wit
Elspeth, Storm Slayer
Kaito, Cunning Infiltrator
Quintorius Kand

This deck plays a variety of planeswalkers, all of which have the ability to create creature tokens. This is important because there are no creature spells in the deck. You'll be able to create 1/1 Otters with Ral, Crackling Wit, 1/1 Soldiers with Elspeth, Storm Slayer, 2/1 Ninjas with Kaito, Cunning Infiltrator, and 3/2 Spirits with Quintorius Kand. These various creature tokens will need to act as your defense, keeping your planeswalkers safe from harm.

By creating all of these creature tokens, you'll gain a lot of value if you have a copy of Caretaker's Talent on the battlefield. This class will let you draw an extra card each turn you have a token enter play. If you manage to get it all the way up to Level 3, all of your creature tokens will get +2/+2, turning them into credible threats.

Temur Battlecrier Combo

Next, I have a deck for you that looks to gain a substantial discount on the cost of the spells you'll be casting. Let's take a look at the deck.

Temur Battlecrier

Temur Battlecrier is the namesake for this deck. While this Orc Ranger is on the battlefield, spells you cast during your turn will cost one colorless mana to cast for each creature you have in play that has 4 power or more. This reduction will be multiplied for each copy of Temur Battlecrier you have in play as well, which can amount to quite a discount in the mana you'll be paying.

Outcaster Trailblazer and Visage Bandit are also other great creatures you can play to build up your stockpile of 4 power creatures. You'll generally be able to play either of these creatures for a single mana. Most of the time, you'll want to have Visage Bandit come into play as a copy of Outcaster Trailblazer, which will provide you with a mana you can use. You'll also be able to draw a number of extra cards throughout the game.

For the combo portion of this deck, you'll be looking at Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest. With your army of creatures with 4 power deployed, when Dragonhawk enters the battlefield, you'll be able to exile a fair amount of cards from your library which you can cast until your next end step. Depending on the amount of life your opponent has remaining, you might not want to cast any of them, as each card not cast will deal 2 points of damage to your opponent, potentially finishing them off in one fell swoop.

Bant Mill

The final deck I have for you this week features one of my favorite alternate win conditions, milling. Let's take a look at the deck.

Riverchurn Monument

This deck uses Standard's favorite milling artifact to get cards into the opponent's graveyard, Riverchurn Monument. You can start off slowly by milling two cards each turn. Eventually, your opponent will have a fair amount of cards in their graveyard, and you can finish them off with Riverchurn Monument's exhaust ability, milling a number of cards equal to the number of cards in their graveyard.

In order to hasten their demise, you can cast Space-Time Anomaly to mill your opponent's deck of a number of cards equal to your life total. As you can see, the higher your life total, the higher number of cards your opponent will mill. That's why the majority of this deck is built around controlling your opponent's threats. Negate them as they're being cast with counterspells like Three Steps Ahead. Destroy them individually with targeted spells like Get Lost. Or go for mass removal by casting Day of Judgment. Keep your life total high and quickly mill your opponent's deck.

Wrapping Up

While the mana might not be great for all 3-color combinations, some will work just fine. If you like 2-color decks better, you'll want to check back next week when I start my 5-part series where I look at decks in Edge of Eternities Standard that are focused around a specific color of mana.

What do you think of these decks? Feel free to share this article with your friends anywhere on social media. And be sure to join me here again next week as I continue my search for innovative decks in Standard. I'll see you then!
