Pack to Power - Trades 16-19

Reddit

[easybox]I have turned off and removed all comments attached to this post. It quickly devolved into a flame war with all sides slinging mud. This is not acceptable. - Trick[/easybox]

I just got back from the SCG Philly Open and I did a couple nice Pack to Power trades there. I will admit that I wasn't working the scene with the Pack to Power like I should have, but I had too much going on. I was playing in the tournament, selling cards, and trading on the floor. It's also a bit cumbersome to have a separate Pack to Power binder. I find myself having to explain why I have these crappy cards separate from the rest. I think from now on, I am going to keep the Pack to Power stuff in my main binder between separators. I am hoping that the binder swap will help the project along, speaking of helping the project along let's jump into the shout outs.

Shout Outs

I started to tell little anecdotal stories about all the people that I met at SCG Philly but that made the shout out section crazy long. So, I am going to do them shot-gun style and just list them out. I'm not going to lie, I felt a little bit like a celebrity from the handful of people who recognized me. Thanks for the Ego pump!

Big Head Joe From YoMTGTaps – Thanks for the insane trade. People are going to be pissed but who cares, let the world burn in to chaos! Ha ha.

Greg, @starwarer on Twitter – Thanks for reading and for the support!

Stephan, @Mercatosis on Twitter – Thanks for trading out of the Pack to Binder, and waiting patiently while I was trading with three dudes at once.

Thea, @wmap on Twitter – Thanks for following the Pack to Power project and for the butt-kicking. I want a rematch! You can read about said butt-kicking on Thea's tournament report. Check it out.

Theron – Thanks for following the project. You know I had you in game three! Next time I am going to finish the job.

02 Drop Crew, @02drop on Twitter – These guys were cheering me on all weekend at the trading tables. Thanks guys and Congrats to Dave for Top 8ing like a BOSS.

If I forgot anyone, it's your own fault for not slipping me cash to help me remember. Next time you know better.

Trades

Last time we had a bit of a cliffhanger. The big question was pending, would I get the Nirkana Revenant? Of course I did. I actually got like 25 offers to help by trading me one. It's good to know that I have an army of people, willing to sacrifice their Nirkana Revenants for the cause! Maybe this week I'll say I need a Jace for the cause.

I traded the Revenant for an Awakening Zone. This card is really getting heat. At first it was just a Polymorph card but now with the mono-green Beastmaster decks coming out of Block, people are starting to pick them up.

The Awakening Zone did not stay in the binder long. I turned it around for an Angel of Despair. The Angel is run in Hypergenesis for Extended; it's also a Cube and EDH favorite. I was hoping to open up my audience by trading away the narrow type two cards for cards that see play in multiple formats.

I kinda traded a Mind Spring for a Knight of the White Orchid. My trade partner picked Mind Spring and I asked him, "What's a Mind Spring worth," he said, "I don't know, maybe a Knight of the White Orchid." – Cha-Ching! The only problem is that I need move the Knight pretty quick since it is cycling out of Type 2 soon. If I can do that then I will maximize the value of the Mind Spring.

Speaking of maximizing value, take a look at this insane trade. The Joe thought that I was going to go easy on him when he offered a Bloodbraid, a foil Wall of Reverence, a Transcendent Master and a Rafiq of the Many, for my Malikar Bloodwhitch, Vampire Nighthawk and my Island. He should know better, I told him that I need something more, if he wanted me to get rid of the Bloodwitch. That's when he added the best card in the collection, a Bestial Menace signed and altered by the designer of the card Ken Nagel. If I don't get a good offer for it, I think I am just going to jack this card for my common/uncommon cube.

That's it for now kiddies. I hope you enjoyed this week's adventures. I will be trading at SCG St Louis Open (June 26-27), be sure to stop by to say Hi.
