We're back for more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles previews! The latest Magic: The Gathering expansion has been kicking it into high gear with a deluge of card reveals.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Team-Up
The majority of the previews I'm covering here come from the Turtle Team-Up box set. Wizards revealed the entire contents of the box set, including a host of both main set and Eternal Legal card in the process. They also revealed a couple cool variants of cards we've already had previewed.
Let's get right into the previews, starting off with the Turtle Team-Up Box itself!
The Turtle Team-Up Box

What exactly is the Turtle Team-Up release? Essentially, it acts as a board game utilizing Magic cards. Each set comes with four pre-made 60 card decks built around each of the main four Turtles, plus another cool deck. Four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Play Boosters are also in the package, providing new players using the product to play Magic for the first time a way to augment their decks and further expand their collection.
Each of the four decks not only focus on the headliner Turtle on the packaging, but an additional secondary character as well. This provides that focus character with their own card, but also a team-up pairing with the deck's Turtle. It's a fun way to highlight the teamwork between characters from throughout the series!

The real appeal for this set, however, is in the additional fifth deck. This includes a deck of Bosses and Events that are automatically played over the course of a game. It's currently unclear exactly how this will play out, but this Boss + Events deck provides players with an interesting board game experience to introduce someone to Magic. If you've ever played with the Face the Hydra, Battle the Horde, and Defeat a God challenge decks in the Theros block-era, I'd wager it'll likely play similarly to those.
New Commons and Uncommons
In addition to these new Rare Legends, we also got a large chunk of commons and uncommons from throughout the main set. These cards naturally help fill out the decks while also revealing a large chunk of the remaining release for players to enjoy.
I personally am a big fan of some of these cards! As a Pauper aficionado, some of them like Leonardo, Big Brother and Mouser Foundry could easily be solid roleplayers for select decks in the Pauper format. Will they be good enough for other formats - including Limited? We'll just have to see once the rest of the set drops tomorrow!
There were also a handful of Eternal Legal commons and uncommons exclusive to this release as well. Many seem fairly low power overall, though Utrom Monitor has some real potential for Pauper - a format where the similar Somber Hoverguard has seen play in the past.
New Alt Art Treatments
Last but not least, while most of this batch of reveals leaned into the Turtle Team-Up box set, a small handful of additional variants were shown off as well! Many of the reveals were variants for cards revealed in the Turtle Team-Up box set, but we were also shown several more variants from the Commander deck pixel cards. A new scene art depicting a look similar to the classic 80's/90's cartoon show was shown off, giving long-time fans of the series something new to get excited about.
Wrapping Up
That wraps things up for this batch of previews! All that's left is the full preview dump. Since it will only be a small handful of remaining commons and uncommons, those will be included with my usual news round-up rather than providing a full run-down. If you'd like my full thoughts on the coolest commons in the set, make sure you check out my TMNT Pauper review coming soon!
The Prerelease is just around the corner, so make sure you check with your local shop for all the details on what events and products they'll have available.
