Hello and happiest of days to each of you! Today I am building my next budget Commander deck around Boros Commander Edge of Eternities uncommon Sami, Ship's Engineer who's only here - 29 cents near mint. Great! Then I can build a deck that hits or drops under our last Budge Commander attempt. It's $31.13 and Boros Recursion of Dorks. The goal here is to build an actual proper Budget Brew. Many folks have budget brews for around $250 or one hundred and that's way too much to spend here. I've been unemployed for many times in my life (including now for a year) so that is something I take very seriously. And then prices on any secondary market can shift from writing to publication to you reading it, so prices are cited here, but who actually knows? Also, normally I spend Monday writing up my brew around 10 minutes each half hour for 5 cards so I am fresh and then on Tuesday morning I write it up, but here it takes about twice as long, just as a reminder, so I hope you enjoy it! This is a passion project.
Here's our leader! Costing four for an uncommon, 2/4 good for blocking body with a trigger in our EOT with two or more tapped dorks we can make a tapped 2/2 colorless Robot artifact dork. Love that so much! But there are a few ways to jump out to build around them:
- Aggro - Obviously with aggressive dorks you can easily get them tapped.
- Tokens - With a huge range of dorks from tokens attacking you can trigger this
- Tappers - Then have dorks with tapped abilities to tap on your main phase and trigger.
We may do a bit of each.

I always start budget brews with mana and lands to make sure we've got the mana to do stuff. These three dorks in White ramp us! The four-drop one will put any Plains tapped on our stuff, including our nonbasics! Then the three-drop common 2/1 will ETB and grab a basic Plains to our hand from our library. Then the last three-drop with the 2/1 size but first strike and vigilance ETBs and then if a foe has more lands will ramp a Plains tapped like the first but only in certain cases.
Now let's turn to lands! We need to tap and survive swinging so I tossed in Rogue's Passage and Access Tunnel for a smaller unblockable attack. Bulk rares Castle Ardenvale and Dalkovan Encampment tap for White and then with four to make a 1/1 dork and then the latter also taps for White and then with three to get two free tapped and attacking dorks 1/1 but they die EOT.
Now let's turn to Creature Lands rocks that do the same. The classic is here to swing and then survive and be tapped EOT as well as the three-drop one above for Boros colors and then with two to make it a double striking 1/1! Love that pair and then things like Scuttlemutt and Ghitu Encampment here too.

The next place I always go for my brews and budget stuff too is answers to the many problems. And I started with the above two instant speed ways to make our dorks indestructible to keep them alive! The first one will also make a token with populate and then the latter can if not needed have us and our foe draw two each at instant speed.
Now let's turn to targeted removal! Emergency Eject can destroy any non-land then give them a Lander to ramp a basic - better than Generous Gift and cheaper too. Then the dork Akoum Hellkite costs six for a smaller 4/4 body with flying and then landfall to Ping any target and then was it a Mountain? It eats two instead! I also tossed in Flametongue Kavu.
Now let's finish with tapper removal. The four-cost uncommon instant makes all of your stuff this turn pingers. Then the six-drop rare 6/1 haster with the ability to tap and Bolt anything is next! I also love here the tapping 4/4 also six-drop with a tap to sac your dork and then shoot any thang for its power! Nasty for stuff or finishing off players or their stuff.

Now let's turn to card draw, in real life I always do after answers but before everything else. The one-drop red common with 1/2 body has a two mana tap to sac another artifact like our tokens or land for a card. I like it here since it's on a tapper body to trigger our stuff. Then the three-drop lady in Boros 2/3 body taps with four to discard our hand, draw it back and then you can free recur cheap stuff you discarded. Last time she was here for recursion and discarding, but here as a tapper to trigger us. The planeswalker costs five for five loyalty, and then +1s to add two red for spells and then +1s to discard up to three and then draw that many back. I'm
Now let's turn to these two rummagers. The three-cost one 2/1 common with backup one can when this is tapped discard and draw. Then the artifact two-drop will tap with one to discard red or Mountains and then draw.
Dismissive Pyromancer can tap with one to rummage one - discard and draw one. Note that'll work with tapping and then you can tap it and then sac for an emergency Lightning Blast if needed. Then the five-drop 5/5 Vaultguard Trooper with the EOT stuff we are built around with two tapped dorks can discard our hand and then draw two. Note that's a may effect.

Now let's turn to synergies and then winning conditions too. Normally I do this second to last before what that brew needs to get their theme on. Since the Commander Classic six-drop above arrives with four loyalty and then is just $1.49 here we had to add her first. You can +1 her to make three 1/1 dorks or -3 her to destroy higher powered stuff on all sides! Love her! The red bulk rare one above costs four for four loyalty and then +2 to tutor for a basic Mountain, and then -3s to Spitting Earth a target - great here!
Now let's to turn to tapping win cons with this trio. The uncommon four-drop enchantment will let us tap our dorks to ping our foes. The common two-drop good butt for blocking 1/3 will at sorcery tap two dorks or rocks and then ping each foe for one. Then the Aura costs five, gives the enchanted dork a tap to ping anything equal to its power! Love that here,
Let's look at some pumps next. The four-drop Red warping Memorial Team Leader will pump our team in our turn power by one! We can also pump our team with the three-drop enchantment Glorious Anthem that pumps them all and was so iconic it created the name "Anthem!" I also tossed in the cheap token pumper too.
The five-drop bulk rare enchantment in Boros colors next can in our upkeep make free hasted dorks with them growing over time as we pull them up and down the block a single win con and synergy in one card! Then the win con three-drop red rock 2/3 will shoot each foe for damage when they arrive - no non-token clause there is brokenly good there.
Who wants to make those Goblin tokens? I got 'cha! The classic five-cost Siege-Gang Commander makes three and then sacs them for two to Shock them to take out anything! Then I tossed in the Shapeshifter one and maker Irregular Cohort. Then the uncommon four-drop Beetleback Chief makes two too for fuel or the swinging!
Now let's finish with this trio. The Boros 2/4 four-drop will enter with a Merc token that taps and pumps our power and counts for Sami. Then when targeting happens copy it. Then the last two dorks have size equal to our dork count in White. The five-drop former one has vigilance to swing and then arrives with two 1/1 Spirit Dorks with flying too. Then the latter six-drop with flying too like Serra Angel gets an attack trigger for each foe to get a 2/2 Knight attacks them. Nasty here too! Note those don't end EOT.
