With the second regionals of the new standard rotation out of the way, an old deck that was thought to be subpar placed 2nd in the Monterey Regional! Blissey ex seems to be a very strong contender for a power house in the new format. With the ability to draw on attack, move energy around as needed, and take full advantage of Munkidori, what was once thought of as a meme is now a very viable list. You can find the list here on Limitless.

When looking at what makes this list so viable, we should look at each card individually. Starting with Blissey ex, the focal point of the deck. Blissey ex has one of the highest HP's of any Stage 1 ex in Pokemon's standard rotation. With a whopping 300 HP, Blissey can survive not only Dragapult ex's Phantom Dive, but it can also survive it after the 6 damage counters are put on it on the bench. Blissey is also being paired with Rigid Band as well, while not normally played, Rigid Band makes any Stage 1 Pokemon take 30 less damage from attacks, making it even more durable.
While Blissey ex is extremely durable it also has a fantastic ability which is the build around in this list. Happy Switch allows you once during your turn to move a basic energy from 1 of your Pokemon to another of your Pokemon. While normally this wouldn't be a huge deal, with the addition of Munkidori, you can move darkness energy around from Munkidori to Munkidori to activate multiple of the Adrena-Brain abilities. Just by utilizing 3 Adrena-Brains, you can move up to 90 damage from your Blissey to your opponent's Pokemon!

And just when you think that Blissey wasn't good enough, Blissey's Return attack is huge due to the fact it deals 180 damage. This means that it can 2 shot anything in the format, as things top out at 360. While 180 damage is very respectable, the second part of the attack is even better. Each time you attack, you draw until you have 6 cards in hand. Because of this, you never really feel like you're locked due to a mistimed Iono, or even due to an item lock. Blissey is definitely a powerhouse in this format.
When looking to play Blissey, you might think it's a bit boring, but to the contrary it's actually quite fun! The gameplay is a bit straightforward: Blissey ex gets set up in the active, Munkidoris helps to leave it healthy, and you're all set. To support this gameplay style, you also play Technical Machine: Turbo Energize. This allows you to get basic energy out onto the board. While normally it's a downside that they go to the bench, due to the Happy Switch ability, this isn't a problem for us. If we can set up 2 Blisseys, 2 Munkidoris and a back up attacker, you'll be all set. And don't worry if the deck runs into Pokemon it can't attack into. It also runs a 1 of Roaring Moon ex as well as a Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex to help in problematic matchups.

By running the 1 of Roaring Moon ex you can get knock outs on large Pokemon that need to be dealt with quickly, or your opponent's Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex. You can even use your own Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex as a wall to prevent Pokemon with abilities from damaging you back.
Over all, I believe that Blissey ex will have a place in the current meta that will need to be adjusted to slightly. Blissey's power comes from the strength of Munkidori's Adrena-Brain ability, as well as the healthy body and versatile attackers. This deck is a breath of fresh air in the format that punishes the current aggressive and lock type of playstyle.
