TMNT Appear In Prerelease Kits
(1/2 ?) We're aware of reports of ECL prerelease kits containing foil promo cards from an incorrect set. This is not intentional and, if possible, stores should replace these promos with the appropriate ECL promos from other prerelease kits.

If you've been around social media at all this weekend, you may have noticed something strange going on with the Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease. Several stores seemed to receive an unexpected surprise in their prerelease kits: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards in place of their Lorwyn Eclipsed foil rares! The issue turned out to be so widespread that Wizards had to acknowledge it and provide stores with guidelines for how to handle the matter. Whoops!
As of now, the majority of rares and mythics from the set - if not all of them - have made their way onto the internet. During this week's WeeklyMTG stream, Blake Rasmussen acknowledged this further, noting that Wizards had Monday off and were still in the process of having discussions and putting something together for it.
This article went live Wednesday afternoon, revealing that while the team's investigation was still ongoing, they were officially revealing all non-Booster Fun versions of the rares/mythics. Additionally, it was noted that they would be seeking out the affected stores and try to do right by them by celebrating Lorwyn Eclipsed rather than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can find the full Card Image Gallery - which includes these new rares and mythics - right here.
Parallax Tide Banned in Premodern
In a stunning surprise, the Premodern format banned the card Parallax Tide earlier this week. Why is this such a surprise? Because Premodern is a format that doesn't rotate. No new cards are ever added, so it's fairly static. However, the group who runs the format noted that the card was a bit too good at setting up a one-sided Armageddon to stick around. As such, it's been banned out of the format going forward.
It's interesting to note that the group noted this wasn't due in part to the format's recent push onto Magic Online. However, the format is continuing to see a strong showing on the client. So strong, in fact, that the MTGO Weekly Announcements article revealed that the format was confirmed to become a permanent fixture of the client! This takes place on February 25th when a dedicated Premodern league will replace the existing Contraption one.
You can read the full ban announcement here, and you can check out the MTGO Weekly Announcements article here.

With the release of Lorwyn Eclipsed hitting digital clients earlier this week, players are racing to find uses for the cards in Standard. While most lists are simply existing decks trying out some new cards, we have seen a small number of fresh spice along the way. This deck takes the evoke elementals from the set and shoves several into a single list.
The idea here is that you can evoke them for a powerful effect and then use cards like Not Dead After All and Undying Malice to bring them back to the battlefield with ease. Unlike what cards such as Grief and Fury did in Modern, you won't get their abilities again by doing this. However, you will be able to still get a fairly large threat onto the board this way. You can also utilize Superior Spider-Man to clone one of these powerful creatures and still get the enters triggers based on the color mana you pay to cast it.
Will this be a deck that takes over the upcoming Regional Championship this weekend in Portland? Or is this simply a flash in the pan that will go away as the new format settles? Time will tell but it's nevertheless a fairly exciting period to be playing the game!
