Secrets of Strixhaven has been a stone cold hit since its release just a few weeks ago. It's going so strong, even, that Wizards revealed the set's prerelease numbers were the highest since War of the Spark in 2019.
As they often do, Wizards has put out a customer survey looking for fans of Magic to give their thoughts on the set and the game. Participating can help shape the future of the game we all know and love, so check it out and give your thoughts on the latest in-universe release.
Eternal Weekend Dates Announced
Fans of Eternal formats like Legacy and Vintage rarely get much love nowadays thanks to the difficulties in accessing cards for those formats. However, once a year, each core Magic-playing region gets a major event for both formats in the form of Eternal Weekend.
Information for the events dropped earlier this week, revealing the two new promos for top finishers. Life from the Loam will be the promo for Legacy while Treasure Cruise will be the Vintage one. Top 32 finishers will get a non-foil promo while the Top 8 will also get a foil copy.
Dates and locations will be as follows:
- October 29 - November 1, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- December 3 - 6, 2026 in Lucca, Italy
- December 5 - 6, 2026 in Tokyo, Japan
If you're a fan of Eternal Magic, you'll want to save the dates and join in on the fun.

Pauper, the 60-card format composed of nothing but Common cards, has been somewhat on the rise again lately. It's a wonderful budget friendly format that's gives players a rich gameplay experience for a fraction of the cost of formats like Modern, Pioneer, and Standard.
Following the strong showing of Pauper events like Paupergeddon in Europe, which frequently gets around 1000 players in attendance, TOs across the United States have sought to do similar. The NYC Pauper League has perhaps taken the strongest stab at this thus far, with their Paupergenesis event - acting as a US Pauper Nationals event - taking place in July.
As of this week, the event has capped and sold out with just shy of 200 entrants. 30 seats are expected to open up today, though they may already be sold out by the time this article goes live. That's an astounding showing for one of the coolest formats around, and is a testament to the growing popularity of Pauper.
I'll be at the event myself, so I hope to see you there!

The latest Pro Tour took place at MagicCon Las Vegas this past weekend, highlighting all the fun stuff Secrets of Strixhaven brought to the Standard format.
The metagame was jam packed with a variety of Izzet decks, with the combined total of these archetypes making up nearly 50% of the overall metagame. This was thanks in no small part due to the additions of cards like Flow State, Colorstorm Stallion, and Traumatic Critique.
However, the real winner of the event were the various Landfall decks. While Mono-Green Landfall continued to put up some serious numbers, it was the breakout build of Selesnya Landfall that dominated. The finals ended up being a mirror match between teammates Nathan Steuer and previous Pro Tour champion Christoffer Larsen, with Steuer coming out on top.
Congratulations Nathan on the impressive victory!
