Calling all Ninjas! Bandai Card Games is releasing a new Trading Card Game, based on the world of Naruto, in 2027.

Bandai Card Games is well known for making some other popular games such as the One Piece Card Game and the Gundam Card Game, so you can bet that this one will be pretty fantastic too.

What is Naruto?

Naruto is a manga/anime series written by Masashi Kishimoto and is widely considered one of the most popular series of all time. It is considered one of "The Big Three" of dominant anime which includes One Piece and Bleach.

It follows the exploits of a young ninja named Naruto in his village of Konohagakure. As he grows up, he is shunned and hated by his village due to a monster, the Nine-Tailed Fox (known as the Kyuubi), that was sealed inside of him as a baby. As he grows and becomes a ninja, we meet his two fellow ninjas, Sakura and Sasuke, along with their mentor and leader, Kakashi.

His anime story continues with Naruto: Shippuden in 2007 and outlines his story through his struggles with friends, enemies, and internal conflict (both literally and figuratively due to the Kyuubi sealed inside) present in his life.

Naruto, as a whole, is a series that tackles classic themes like good vs. evil, hope in wartime, and even the importance of family in your life. It's both a coming-of-age story and a story about overcoming generational trauma and your own shortcomings to achieve your goals.

We could talk all day about Naruto and how fantastic it is, but what matters here is that we've got a new TCG on the way!

The Naruto Card Game

Bandai's official teaser trailer from IGN showcases one of the anime's most popular intro songs (Go!!! (Fighting Dreamers) by FLOW) along with two of the most important characters in the story, Naruto and Sasuke, possibly clashing (spoiler if you haven't watched Naruto, they fight constantly).

Just that song being used is enough of a draw for some of the most dedicated fans to lock in on this game.

Unfortunately, though, for all of us fans, Bandai is keeping specific gameplay mechanics and details on cards as hidden as a good ninja should be. The game will make its worldwide debut at GenCon 2026 (July 30th to Aug 2nd), with the first official news drop and release roadmap coming the day before, on July 29th.

Creator Masashi Kishimoto had this to say on the release:

"NARUTO CARD GAME! I'm glad to see the world of NARUTO grow larger once again. I truly hope these cards find their way to both your hands and your hearts."

GenCon 2026 Details

CoolStuffInc will have a booth setup at GenCon 2026 (booth 1501 if you're looking for us on GenCon's website!). If you venture on through the Indianapolis Convention Center (West for all you cardinal direction aficionados) to booth 605, you'll find Bandai Card Games.

Bandai will be hosting tutorial sessions for their new game, featuring instructors using demo decks to teach. Those that join a session have a chance to get their hands on a gift set, which includes a GenCon 2026 Chakra Card promo and a purchase ticket that can get you a special backpack, sticker, and playmat.

You'll want to sign up for the sessions before they sell out and registration for that opens up on June 21st on GenCon's website.

If the success of games like One Piece Card Game and Gundam Card Game are any indication to Naruto Card Game, we can surely expect a complex game with wonderful, nostalgic art. Naruto is a piece of media that captured viewers, readers, and fans of all ages and backgrounds, so you can be sure that this will be a game worth playing. Believe it!
