10. Rhys the Redeemed
Rhys the Redeemed, a card that was printed in 2008's Shadowmoor, is still one of the best token generators to this day. Rhys isn't that powerful on his own, however.
For three mana, you activate Rhys just to make a single 1/1 Elf Creature token. Making a 1/1 for three mana is honestly not that good of a bargain, even if you can do it repeatably. However, where Rhys really shines is in his second activated ability.
For six mana, Rhys generates a copy of each Creature token you control. This means that if you make Creature tokens with any other card, Rhys can continue making copies turn after turn, notably at Instant-speed. This is a powerful effect stapled onto just a one-mana Creature.
Rhys the Redeemed might not make the most powerful tokens, but the fact that he works so well with other token makers is what makes him so unique. Any of the others here would go great alongside him in a build.
9. Koma, Cosmos Serpent
Koma, Cosmos Serpent is one of the most unique token generators in Magic, and it's especially powerful in games of Commander. Despite being 
to cast, Koma's worth it thanks to its ability to continuously make tokens while protecting itself.
To start things off, Koma is uncounterable, already giving itself some protection against counter spells. But, the thing is, every upkeep Koma generates a 3/3 Serpent Creature token. In games of Commander, when you have three or more opponents, this can generate you some serious power in just one turn cycle.
Koma also has an incredibly strong activated ability. You can sacrifice any Serpent of your choosing to either tap any permanent and shut off its activated abilities for a turn or make Koma Indestructible.
This is an incredibly powerful way to keep your opponents' threats and removal spells in check. Koma can spiral out of control fast, especially if left unanswered for just a few turns. While Koma is no longer wreaking havoc in Standard, it remains a strong token generator option.
8. Fountainport
Out of all the Lands that generate tokens, the most versatile of them all is Fountainport. Fountainport is a great way to not only make tokens but use them to gain card advantage.
You can use Fountainport to create two kinds of tokens: 1/1 Fish tokens for and one life and Treasure tokens for 
. Additionally, Fountainport's third ability lets you draw a card at the small price of

7. Elspeth, Storm Slayer
Elspeth, Storm Slayer is honestly one of my favorite Planeswalkers which also doubles as a token generator and copier. Elspeth, Storm Slayer's design harkens back to that of Elspeth, Sun's Champion from Theros. Both Planeswalkers create tokens, have some sort of built-in protection, and most importantly, have a way to buff up your token armies.
Elspeth, Storm Slayer may only create a 1/1 Soldier token with her +1 ability, but she lets us double our tokens, too. With Elspeth's static ability, you will double the amount of any token you create. This means her +1 ability makes two Soldiers, and any other token-generating effect will create double the usual amount.
Elspeth is honestly a better token enabler than generator. What I mean by this is that she's more like a card like Doubling Season or Parallel Lives in this regard.
However, the fact that she can make an army out of nowhere, and use her 0 ability to buff up said Soldier tokens makes her absolutely worthy of an inclusion on this list. Elspeth, Storm Slayer is a force to be reckoned with in a variety of Magic formats, ranging from Standard to Commander, making her one of the best White token generators available.
6. Black Market Connections
Black Market Connections is one of the most powerful ways to make tokens in Commander. An easily splashable Black Enchantment, Black Market Connections gives you three options on each of your upkeeps:
- Create a Treasure token for one life;
- Draw a card for two life, or;
- Create a 3/2 Changeling for three life.
Did I mention that you can choose more than one option each time? Every turn you can make a Treasure token and draw a card, or keep pumping out 3/2 Changeling tokens. You have a lot of power in what choices you make with this card.
What makes this card one of the best is that it has so much flexibility. You not only get multiple token generating options, but the card's multiple modes support a variety of strategies.
To be honest, it feels like every Commander deck with Black in it would want this card, regardless if you're running a token-centric theme. Every deck can use more mana, more cards, and more threats or Creature fodder. Lucky for you, Black Market Connections provides you with all three.
5. Voice of Victory
Voice of Victory, ever since its release in Tarkir Dragonstorm, has been one of the top options for tokens. It's true that Voice of Victory only makes two 1/1 Soldiers and they don't even really stick around, but it is powerful for one specific reason: its static ability.
Voice of Victory is basically a modern-day Grand Abolisher that also conveniently makes tokens. This card can render your opponent's countermagic useless while also putting on pressure. Combining this card with ways to double your tokens or ways to utilize sacrificing them before the end step, makes it a strong option to be playing.
Whether this card is for your Commander deck to stop your opponents from interfering with your turn, or it's a sideboard card against Standard Control decks, Voice of Victory unanswered on turn two can pack quite a punch.
4. Scute Swarm
Scute Swarm is a Creature and token generator that was first released in Zendikar Rising back in 2020. A nod to its predecessor, Scute Mob, Scute Swarm is one of MTG's best token generators because it can get out of hand fast. With one Scute Swarm in play, you'll make a 1/1 Insect token every time a Land comes into play under your control.
Once you start hitting your sixth Land drop and beyond, this card turns into an absolute monster, allowing you instead to make copies of Scute Swarm. Now every time you're playing Land, all your Scute Swarms trigger, and your board grows exponentially until someone can answer it.
This can be extremely potent with any way to buff up your tokens to hit for large amounts of damage in one turn.
3. Forth Eorlingas!
Forth Eorlingas!, while only legal in Commander and Eternal formats like Legacy and Vintage, is third on this list thanks to its power and flexibility. What makes this card so great is that it's an X-cost Sorcery, so it can scale as the game progresses as long as we have the mana to spend.
This card puts X 2/2 Human Knights with Trample and Haste into play. With Trample, you'll almost guarantee becoming the monarch. Where this card truly shines is at the late stages of a game where your X value will equal upwards of ten or more mana. Suddenly, you're running over the table with 20-strong swings.
Paired with any way to give your tokens or White Creatures +1/+1 or more, you'll be able to hit for loads of damage with this card. Forth Eorlingas! is powerful, flexible, and a major consideration for any Boros 
Commander strategy.
2. Ocelot Pride
Ocelot Pride sits at the second-best in our list. It's made a significant mark on Modern since the release of Modern Horizons 3 back in 2024.
With Ocelot Pride, you'll always make a 1/1 Cat token if you gained life during a turn. This is why this card pairs so well in the Boros Energy deck in Modern with cards like Guide of Souls and Ajani, Nacatl Pariah.
Furthermore, what really makes this card so powerful is the fact that once you have the City's Blessing you'll get to make a copy of each of your tokens that entered that turn. This makes Ocelot Pride not just a Modern staple, but a card that can slot easily into any Commander deck that cares about tokens.
1. Cori-Steel Cutter
Cori-Steel Cutter has established itself as the best token generator in Magic: The Gathering in 2026 for many reasons. While it is arguably Red's best token generator, this card really lends itself to an Izzet strategy.
First and foremost, as of May 2026 this card is now banned in two major Constructed formats, Standard and Pioneer. Cori Steel-Cutter has been an absolute menace, making a strong appearance in every single Constructed format.
The reason this card is now banned in both Standard and Pioneer is because it can run wild when your deck is full of one-mana noncreature spells like Stormchaser's Talent and Boomerang Basics. You can go off just by deploying this card and casting multiple spells in a turn.
If you have multiples in play, then the sky is the limit. If you can keep making 1/1 Monks with Prowess and refueling your hand with one-drops, this card goes from making 1/1 tokens to 4/4 or greater attackers.
It can be hard for your opponents to keep up with this Artifact, especially once it gets going, which is why it is now banned and is arguably the top token generator in MTG in 2026.
Honorable Mentions
There are a handful of other token generators that are very powerful that didn't make the cut for this list.
Rite of Replication
Rite of Replication is one of my top picks due to how devastating it can be in a game of Commander. With Rite of Replication you can create an instant army of haymakers, if you can copy one of your opponents' powerful Legendary Creatures like Craterhoof Behemoth or Hullbreaker Horror. Rite of Replication is just a cool and flexible token generator to include in pretty much any Blue cEDH deck.
Assemble the Legion
Assemble the Legion has probably had its time in the sun, since it was a Standard staple back in its day, but it still makes for a one-man-army token generator that, if unanswered, can win a game by itself.
Netting an exponential number of tokens every turn isn't nothing, especially if you can cheat it out early in some way. That could go crazy with someone like Kirol, Attentive First-Year.
