Today Wizards revealed more about the system that will be used for the Great Designer Search 2, as well as highlighting changes to the process used in the original Great Designer Search. Among the changes were the allowance for designers to collaborate with others during parts of the competition, which has led some to form teams, and resulting confusion over how teams can progress when there can be only one winner.

The process used to select the "8" finalists (down from the initial 15, R&D may choose more or less than 8 finalists) is a multi-stage testing process as follows:

1. Ten-question essay response test
2. 50-question multiple choice test
3. Design test in two parts

   1. Propose a world/block - Very important as all subsequent challenges must be designed in this setting.
   2. Design cards that go in your world
