Secrets of Strixhaven Prerelease Is Here

Welcome back to the plane of Arcavios and to the magical college of Strixhaven. Secrets of Strixhaven is here at last as players everywhere will soon be able to get their first taste of the set during prereleases throughout the weekend. Check out when your local game store is hosting their events, join in the fun, and open some sweet Mystical Archive cards as you do.

Secret Lair: Back to School Superdrop Revealed

This week saw the announcement of the latest Secret Lair releases, titled the Back to School Superdrop.

This round includes two lairs based on My Little Pony, one based on the popular game Dwarf Fortress, and another depicting each of the characters from the Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos novel. A lair that was previously revealed on accident, titled The Eyes Have It, is also being released at last.

These Secret Lair items go on sale on April 27th. You can check out the full details as well as the contents of each lair in the official announcement article and get ready for them to drop in just over a week.

Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos Is A Bestseller

Last week, Wizards of the Coast released Strixhaven: Omens of Chaos, a novel written by beloved author Seanan McGuire. After its first week on store shelves, Omens of Chaos has officially debuted as a New York Times Bestseller.

The book has made it to 9th on their Hardcover Fiction Books list. The book also ranked highly among all books sold on Amazon during its first week. According to those around the internet who have read it, the reviews are sounding great - a far cry from the War of the Spark books from 2019.

It's time for a new Standard Magic: The Gathering release, and that means a fresh batch of decklists from yoman5. This list is a cool Mono-Black build riffing on the classic combo of Bloodletter of Aclazotz plus Unstoppable Slasher. The inclusion of Pox Plague provides a new way to one-shot unprepared opponents. The addition of Ral Zarek, Guest Lecturer also provides a powerful new threat to rip apart your opponent's hand, set up your draws, or reanimate a small threat.
