In a shockingly brief week, Marvel's Spider-Man previews are already over and done with. Thanks to the set's small size and heavy early preview dumps, we got to see all of these cards in a much shorter span of time than usual. Given that we've now seen the entire set, let's take a look through at some of the cool things that you can find in the newest upcoming Magic: The Gathering release!
What's New and Pricey?
Holy moly, is that a Bolas's Citadel that you can cast from the command zone?! It sure is! Gwenom has attracted a ton of attention for the clearly powerful ability and has quickly risen to be one of the more chase mythics of the set. It just happens to be the gift bundle promo this time around thankfully, but given how heavily this set is expected to move, it's unlikely to sate the hunger this one will instill in players everywhere in the coming weeks.
Whoa, what the hell is this?! It's shocking to see a card this strong in a set like Marvel's Spider-Man. Spider-Sense seems like an easy home run, allowing you to counter various spells and abilities alike. Not only that, but you can even bounce a creature to get it out of harm's way or generate additional value with a second enters ability. This one is sure to see play in a variety of formats and as such is among the non-mythic rares with the highest price in the set for good reason.
Players love a good keyword soup legendary even when it's just the creature itself with the abilities. Now what if you jammed that card as your commander and were rewarded for playing a lot of creatures of one creature type and giving each of those all of the same abilities? The uses for this one are going to be narrow and limited quite heavily to Commander only, but for the die-hard Spider-Man fans of the world, this is a great one to have in your command zone.
The Cards People Are Talking About
The classic Spider-Man pointing meme comes to life on a Magic: The Gathering card, which is certain to get players' attention. Better still, it looks to be a really fun option for casual play experiences - namely Commander, obviously. It won't make much waves in Constructed formats, but as a humorous bit, perhaps that's for the best.
IT'S MORBIN' TIME!
This card is far less good, but Morbius became a hit meme for a time thanks to the 2022 flop film Morbius. That alone ensures that people are going to have fun taking that film's namesake character and memeing it up for laughs. It probably won't do much anywhere - even Commander - but hey, who can resist a good joke?
Oh, hey, that art certainly looks familiar! Beloved Magic artist RK Post returned once more to pay homage to his classic Unmask art with an all-new Spider-Man art piece for this set. Many players - myself included - quickly called out the visual similarity as it's an image many players of eternal formats know all too well.

In fact, it turns out that may have been more than a mere coincidence! RK Post made a post on various social media platforms suggesting that the card was originally commissioned to be a reprint of Unmask. However, for whatever reason, Unmask was removed from the file and replaced with this new design instead. It'll be interesting if it shows up at all, but many players have noted that it essentially acts as Dark Ritual when paired with one Vivi Ornitier - as if you needed another reason to play that powerful wizard!
Cool New Reprints

Much like with Final Fantasy, Marvel's Spider-Man doesn't bring with it much by way of outright reprints in the main set. In fact, the only one that shows up here is one we've had in the format for some time thanks to Murders at Karlov Manor: Shock. Just as with Final Fantasy, though, this set brings with it a special bonus sheet full of interesting new reprints. Each of these boasts classic Spider-Man comic art in a set of cards that feels quite fitting, particularly following the faults found on Final Fantasy's Through the Ages bonus sheet.
