Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are Coming to Magic: the Gathering

For weeks, players have been trying to figure out what the unannounced Universes Beyond property for 2026 was going to be. We first found out that a panel for it would be happening at New York Comic-Con and then that we'd find out more here when it was left unannounced at MagicCon Atlanta. Now we know for sure: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are officially coming to Magic: the Gathering.

Humorously, this was first revealed earlier in the week as a truck showing both the Magic logo and TMNT were spotted in New York City. Fans snapped pictures and shared on social media, which then spread around the internet like wildfire. It wouldn't be long before we got a full first look at the set coming out on March 6, 2026.

For further details, be sure to check out the Collecting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles article on the mothership or check out my other article for today covering everything revealed.

Duel Commander Blows Up

This week has seen a sudden and unexpected rift in the Duel Commander rules committee. One member - DocFX - removed all other members from the DCRC's Discord and claimed they were kicked off the rules committee. The other members have claimed that this came as a result of a disagreement where the team sought to remove him from the rules committee. Due to this, it remains unclear as to where Duel Commander goes from here, but it has led uncertainty on how it will impact those who play the format going forward, particularly on Magic Online where the format can be played.

You can find the statement that blew this up here, and the follow up from the members removed from the original site and Discord server here.

Roughly a week ago, fellow CoolStuffInc content creator and pro player Jim Davis released a new video covering his time at a Pro Tour testing house. This was for Pro Tour Aetherdrift, which seems like so long ago but took quite a bit of time to edit and put together. It's a tremendous piece of content and a great bit of insight into how these legendary testing houses function. Check it out, and be sure to congratulate Jim on getting back onto the Pro Tour himself as well when you do!

Decklist of the Week

Last week I covered the winner of Pro Tour Edge of Eternities, but despite Belcher winning, it certainly wasn't the only highlight of the event. One of the best performing decks of the weekend was Amulet Titan, a deck that has become a mainstay of the Modern format. It has remained a consistently top-level deck, only hindered by its difficulty to play well, utilizing Primeval Titan and Amulet of Vigor to generate absurd amounts of mana for big plays. The deck recently got the addition of the powerful Icetill Explorer as well, allowing you to get even crazier with Aftermath Analyst loops. It's not a deck for the faint of heart, but if you're willing to learn, it can be a truly powerful threat against opponents of any skill level.
