What is MTG Dogs?

Akin to the Running of the Gnomes by World of Warcraft players, the MTG Dog competition is a community driven initiative. This is the third year it has occurred, with an ever widening field, likely to hit 64 competitors this year.

The idea is very simple: Magic players like their dogs, love polls, and everyone loves a fun tie-in to NCAA basketball's March Madness.

Every day, community members of the Magic: The Gathering community vote on two dogs, slowly whittling down competitors to two final dogs. In the first two years, a former Magic professional Brian Kibler's dog Shiro won and the second year had a perfect 50/50% tie for Toblerone and the Luft family's pet Shadow:

2017 - #1 seed Shiro wins

2018 - unprecedented tie

In case you needed incentives for why you should submit, here are a few:

• Winter is still here and something needs to break up the cold.
• Second place will receive one of every Hound common in Magic.
• Winner receives one of every hound from Magic's history, including Dogsnail Engine, Five-Finger Discount, Ronin Houndmaster, and planeswalker Jiang Yanggu, and the honor of being Magic's bestdog.
