This week started out pretty slow but accelerated nicely for a strong finish. Lots of excellent reading!

Sunday March 14th, 2010

  • ChannelFireball - Trying to Beat Jund Again - LSV explores Jund and beating it. This would prove a very popular theme this week.

  • ManaNation - I'm Just Going to Borrow That... - Ben McDole looks at his Wrexial EDH deck
  • Wizards - Keeping with the Plan - Steven Sadin explains the strategy of deciding whether you can keep a hand, how to do it, and why you should do it.
  • SCG - The Purpose of Theory - AJ Sacher is a fairly new columnist for SCG but this column will likely prove to be one of his most well remembered pieces.

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

  • ManaNation - Committment - Dan Eckstein shares his Extended deck that he took to a local PTQ.
  • ManaNation - Where Will the US Nationals be? - I take a look at the historical locations and try to guess where this year's US Nationals will be.
  • T:apped - Stu:ffed
  • Wizards - Gods and Monsters - Doug Beyer opens the door to our gaining a deeper understanding of the Eldrazi in terms of story. Awesome.
  • SCG - Preparing for GP Kuala Lumpur - Alex West is quickly proving to be one writer who is rising to the top of the jumble. Week after week I enjoy his reads. This one suggests a number of standard decks to consider.
  • CF - Morphing Standard - Conley Woods writes. We read.
  • 99EDH Deck Clinic - Rafiq of the Many - An entertaining and fun EDH deck to look at.

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

  • ManaNation - Examining Cunning Sparkmage - Russell T. looks at the new Timmy and why he's so hot.
  • ManaNation - Stating the Obvious - Kelly Reid discusses Jund... and the obvious problems with it.
  • ManaNation - Hit Jund's Weak Spots! - Lauren Lee explains some of the vulnerability with Jund.
  • XMTG - The Reserved List Trap
  • Wizards - Believe It or Not, a Defense of Jund - Mike Flores comes to the aid of Jund and takes its side in the onslaught of hate and disparaging remarks.
  • Wizards - Revised Reprint Policy - This would be one of the most important news items to read from the past week. Maybe you've heard...
  • SCG - Missing the Trigger - Peter Jahn addresses an edge case in a recent episode of Judgecast.
  • BlackBorder - Landing - Lino Burgold talks about how not to Net Deck.
  • Sigh - In response to the announcement of the Reserved list being locked up. A less obvious reason why the reprintings could be awesome.

Friday, March 19th, 2010

  • ManaNation - Taysir - Roon (Brendan Weiskotten) tells the story of the little known Planeswalker Taysir.
  • Wizards - Worldwake Multiverse Outtakes - Tom LaPille (based on his site pic, his evil twin) shares some humorous excerpts from the Worldwake development.
  • CF - Postboard Planning to Perfection - Brad Nelson teaches you how to properly plan your sideboarding for decks.
  • MTGSalvation - Booster Box to Deck Box - This is a fun little craft project walking you through converting booster boxes into your own deck boxes.
  • PureMTGO - State of the Program - I met Erik at PT Austin during a preview of Wizards' work on the next iteration of Magic online. He does this column every week talking about MTGO. This one caught my eye as he discussed why people pay more than $1 for an event ticket on Ebay.
  • Rise of the Eldrazi Haiku #6 - He's been doing a series of these inspired by the RoE art and this one is one I really like.
  • Phyrexia vs the Coalition & MTGColorPie's posting - Two Magic bloggers met to clash over the new Phyrexia vs the Coalition. MTGColorPie and GatheringMagic's Reinhart. How did it end? Entertainingly :)
